Always one foot on the ground

It finally clicked.
Every single minute or hour I've invested into getting my life together came together this week.

For those of you that don't know yet,
I joined a fraternity.
I know, I know; but don't jump to any conclusions just yet.
People say you're paying for your friends,
or that it's just an excuse to go and get drunk all the time.
But that's bullshit.
Everyone wants this kind of lifestyle:
Having a huge circle of friends, social status, women, being a part of something bigger than yourself.
People tend to criticize those more successful than them;
an attempt to reduce those people to their level.
When in fact, they're just jealous.
Because they can't live that life.

I've always been a leader.
Deep down, I've always known that.
Herein is an outlet to lead.
I get elected pledge president,
and been given responsibility for my pledge brothers.
I have an opportunity to have a major impact on these boys.
I can shape them into men.
Help them achieve whatever they want out of life.
A true man does not knock others down,
But bring them up to his level.
I'm just starting to understand what that means,
and how it ties into my purpose.

I have huge dreams for this fraternity.
Alpha Tau Omega is one of the top five greek fraternities in the country.
In membership, academics, community service, leadership training, etc.
My chapter is definitely not one of the biggest in the organization,
But I plan on changing that.
Our legacy at West Georgia has not been a very positive one.
They were kicked off campus, restricted in their pledge class sizes and fined out the ass.
I'm going to bring them back to their former glory.
I'm going to do that by expanding,
Recruiting "fraternity type" guys,
Fixing up and modernizing the house,
Mending and developing relationships with other fraternities on campus,
Weeding out the detrimental characters associated with the fraternity,
Getting involved in more activities with sororities on campus,
and of course, establishing financial security within the fraternity.
I can do that by funding events and projects
that will bring members and donations to our chapter.
Nothing can get in my way.

Speaking of getting in with other girls and sororities,
This week has been a huge success.
I've been applying everything i've learned when I go out,
and raking in the rewards.
I met so many amazing women this week,
Got plenty of numbers,
and I have a date on Sunday.
I feel fantastic.
