She waited for the reaction to her present, and she wasn't disappointed. From the shadows she watched as Alexia prayed for the man who was the sacrifice to their love. The punishment to Lexi turning her back on what Sophia had offered her. But it wasn't enough of a reaction. There wasn't enough fire behind those dark eyes that she adored. No, no Lexi was simply going through the motions and that wouldn't do.

It was time to step up the game.

Who to pick to play with? There were so many options. Tyler would be fun, but crossing that line would push Lexi too far too soon. No she needed to save him as an absolute last resort. Though, inflicting pain on Tyler through another person? Yes, yes that would be perfect. Lexi couldn't stand for her brother to be hurt so she would want to save him. Avenge what happened to him. The fire behind her eyes would ignite in a way that would remind Sophia of Faith. Oh Faith had been fun. She licked her lips at the memory.

She waited in the shadows for Liliana to leave the hotel to visit the twins at their home. Angel was in New York with Harry which meant that it wouldn't be hard to grab the pretty slayer. After all, they were old friends right? She grabbed Lily just before she got to her car, slamming her head against the car hard enough to make the slayer go limp. Perfect. Taking her by the hair she dragged her into the trunk of Sophia's car, securing her inside before sliding behind the steering wheel. It was time to leave a lasting impression.

There was a beach house that James had given her awhile back. She had spent some quality time with Lexi there before Harry ruined everything. She wanted to rip his head off for it, but Faith had already done that and he kept coming back. Jerk. By the time she had Lily secured in the chains in the basement the girl was still out of it. She leaned against a wall, antique dagger in her hand as she waited for those bright blue eyes to open up. When they did there was a furious shaking of the chains as the smell of panic and anger rolled off the baby slayer in waves. "Sophia?"

"Liliana, baby, I was getting worried you would sleep through our reunion. I trust you're comfortable?" She glided across the room in a way that a panther would approach prey. The tip of the blade was pressed under Lily's chin as she used it to lift the younger girl's gaze. "You've been selected to deliver a present to my girl. Don't you feel lucky?"

"Sophia, let me go. You really don't want to do this." Her legs lashed out, knocking Sophia to the floor. Frantically she tried to get out of the chains, but it was no use. They were too heavy and she was at Sophia's mercy. Something told her there would be very little mercy.

"I was so hoping you'd fight back, Liliana. I taught you well."

"If you want me to fight, let me go so it can be a fair fight," Lily spat out angrily as the blade was used to cut her shirt free from her body. She felt too exposed hanging there in a flimsy silk bra and short skirt. Why hadn't she wore jeans?

"Be a good girl, scream," Sophia instructed as she began to cut into the pale canvas that was hanging in front of her. "So many freckles. It's like connecting the dots." Sophia said in a sing song voice as she alternated deep cuts with shallow ones. Sweat and tears filled the room with a salty scent, but to her credit Lily never screamed or begged for mercy. Not even when Sophia dropped the knife after carving into her back 'Alexia belongs to Sophia' in shallow cuts that were sure not to scar with her slayer healing, yet would remain long enough to be seen by the right people, and grabbed her by the hips, nails digging in deep as she whispered into her ear. "Now this? This is going to scar."

It was all the warning Lily received before Sophia shifted to her demon visage and tore at Lily's neck with her fangs. She drank deeply, but not deeply enough to kill the girl. No, no she needed her alive. She was cut down from the chains, falling into an unconscious puddle on the floor before Sophia wrapped her up like a present. She carried her out to the rocks, laid her like a sacrifice on the alter, and tucked a neatly wrapped present in between Lily's limp hands. Smoothing the long brown hair over her face to help conceal her identity, Sophia gave her a kiss on the temple and whispered, "You tasted as sweet as I imagined." There was a note of course, tucked under the wrapping paper of the gift. It said simply:

Alexia,

I believe presentation counts when giving someone a gift. You are my heart, and that will never change. Liliana owes her life to you. If not for my deepest affection for you, I would have sent her back to you and your brother with a new set of teeth and an insatiable appetite. I hope to see you soon.

Love always,

Sophia.

With that she called Lexi's cell phone and left a brief message, "You have a present on the rocks of our beach. I wouldn't leave it out there for too long...scavengers may get it." Hanging up, she disappeared into the shadows to watch and wait.
