Ugh, Kat. Let me just say that you have great taste in/knowledge of music and I'm constantly like HOW DO. YOU DO IT. Also, the fact that there's so many eclectic tones and sounds here just rings true of Lisbeth being an extremely layered character that isn't so easy to define or to box. I can't even coherently talk about how much I adore the fact that these are all female artists. That is the greatest thing!!! And including an instrumental?! KAT! So fitting for such an internalized and non-verbal character. And almost every song evokes a distinct emotion or reminder of a scene or relationship; this whole thing is so brilliant and thoughtfully done!

I'm not sure if you meant it like that, but I must have listened to Lullaby at least three full times because it strongly reminded me Palmgren/Lisbeth, specifically of his stroke. For some reason all throughout the song I had the pungent image of Lisbeth sitting on the hospital floor waiting for a diagnoses? FEELS.

Carnival Justice is fucking p e r f e c t. Not just because the lyrics are so dead on, but because even the whispery, raspy, echoing tone of her voice feels so alienated and taunting all at once--like there are a hundred creepy crawly things are in the vicinity. BEST.

For some reason Daughter makes me want to absolutely cry. It feels like it's coming from someone who has faced a lifetime of abuse in one way or another. So beautifully poignant!

Nobody Can See Like You Do threatens to destroy me at any moment because, like we talked about, my favorite aspect of Blomkvist and Lisbeth's relationship is how he literally takes the time to understand her, respect her boundaries, and eventually trust her based on the time they've spent together. Like!! Even when she's going through a shit storm of rumors in the last two books, it's always HIM in her corner even when she makes things purposely difficult and provides no concrete reason to trust her innocence. And Blomkvist has always brought out that tender--albeit reckless in her opinion--and deeply submerged nature in Lisbeth. Part of her wants that quietness and sweetness with him. KILL THE FEELS WITH FIRE.

asfhfkflja SANDY. It was so hard to mix for her but yes, she doesn't fit into just one musical genre, like she's so multi-layered it only made sense to use different types of music. AND LOL I usually always use all females for a lady mix, or go back and forth if it's a boy/lady pairing. I have the hardest time letting male vocalists represent female characters or vice versa, IDKKK. lol

Hmmm, you could very well take Lullaby like that! I used it as more representing Lisbeth vs. all the horrible men in her life, or just the entire male gender hating women since it's such a huge theme in the series. But listening to it again that's not a wrong way to listen to it! (Also, there's a line that uses the word 'boy' and sort of ruins the pov of the song but WHATEVER I couldn't pass up the song because of one word. lol)

The Daughter song is probably my favorite, it is just perfect for how Lisbeth has been tossed aside and abused again and again, and the chorus is pure Blommy/Sally. XD

Yes! I thought it sounded a bit cheesy when you read the lyrics alone? But the song (originally by Yoko Ono apparently!) the tone of it really helps it fit.

(I was wondering what you thought of Wednesday's Child and Dirty White? I thought the first could come off too self-pitying for Lisbeth and the latter too... Disney? lol)

AS ALWAYS, ILU. <3
