SUMMARY OF THE LAWSUITS AGAINST ABERCROMBIE
The lawsuit, Gonzalez et al. v. Abercrombie & Fitch Stores, Inc., et al., was originally filed in U.S. District Court in San Francisco in June 2003 by MALDEF, the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Asian Pacific American Legal Center and the law firm of Lieff, Cabraser, Heimann, & Bernstein, LLP. The suit charged retail clothier Abercrombie & Fitch with discrimination against applicants and employees of color. This lawsuit was consolidated with other cases charging employment discrimination against women and people of color filed by the EEOC and the law firm of Minami, Lew, & Tamaki, LLP., and the law firm of Kohn, Swift & Graf, P.C. On November 16, 2004 , the Court granted preliminary approval to a settlement of the lawsuit.
on a side note: when I was in high school, I went into abercrombie and asked for an application as a joke while some friends waited for me outside and they were very reluctant to give it to me. Plus, everytime I have walked into or walked by an Abercrombie, there are no females or men of other races than caucasian.
