Yay, Ani-play at Sunshine Plaza FTW.

I've been pondering whether to get the manga for Death Note for a long while now. While my Chinese skills are okay, I think my brain would probably implode with the attempt to read and comprehend Death Note in that language. And I hate reading off the computer screen.

The shop at Sunshine Plaza carries a ton of American-published English manga, and it's priced quite affordably if you are prepared to buy 5 volumes at a time. The guy at the shop said you can mix any 5 volumes from any publisher, and you'll still get the offer price, so if you don't have e.g. 5 Tokyopop titles you want to get, it's still okay as long as you make up the 5 with other titles.
Shonen Jump titles - any 5 volumes @ $11.95 each
Tokyopop titles - any 5 volumes @ $12.95 each
Shojo Beat titles - any 5 volumes @ $13.95 each
Viz titles - any 5 volumes @ $14.95 each
DMP titles - any 5 volumes @ $17.95 each
Del Rey titles - any 5 volumes @ $15.95 each

It was really quite worth it, especially when Death Note sells for $14 plus at Kino. The shop seems to get the most recent releases really quickly too. I saw the first volume of Yakitate!! Japan when I was there today. Plus, if you don't want to buy, at least you can still rent it. Now, I haven't come across any other place that actually rents American manga, so that's great too.

*runs off to read the huge stack of manga I have just acquired*

manga, buying
