Oh oh, good morning. Today I have learned that the human body functions better on NO sleep than three hours. That'll teach me to go to sleep after awards ceremonies.
Mixed feelings, really. I should have seen more of the films that were nominated before last night, seriously.
For the most part I have no serious issues with any of it. Some huge disappointments, personally - I don't understand, quite frankly, how Hugh could win this two times before and NOT this year, when it's been his best. I mean, even if just for the finale, and I KNOW we can't keep using that finale forever, but if they can't win shit for what I feel is (and was widely regarded as) two of the greatest hours of television ever made? Yeah I don't know what the fuck they're expected to do. But hey, I am still glad they got nominated. Even if I find it hard to believe that any of the other contenders could be half as powerful and affecting. Whatever. I would have dealt with True Blood winning, but that frankly wouldn't have deserved it either. I am never, ever going to root for anything but House. It's my show, so... Kindly hold off on telling me how OH NOES, Mad Men deserved it. Maybe it did, but that doesn't mean I have to be happy about it. House deserved it too, the end.
SPEAKING. OF TRUE BLOOD. I am stunned that Anna Paquin won. FUCK YEAH. That was the big shock of the night for me, and the category I was most excited over :D
I wanted Angelina for best actress in a drama, but my GOD am I more than OK with Kate Winslet winning. MY GOD. She is wonderful, I need to see both her films. I have Revolutionary Road downloaded so I'll probably watch it tonight. But she was just adorable and her speeches were beautiful and so human and djfhgsjkdfhg I loved her.
Seriously, I am so neutral on so many of them, liek I wanted Burn After Reading for comedy purely because I had actually seen it and it slayed me. But I love Woody Allen and hear great things about Vicky Cristina Barcelona, so. It just made me want to see it more.
Micky Rourke - I wanted Frank Langella and would have been more than happy with Sean Penn (though have yet to watch Milk) or Brad Pitt, I'd have been fine with Leonardo DiCaprio, too. It DID make me more intrigued about The Wrestler than ever, though. I just really want to understand this. I mean, he got a standing ovation. I just cannot identify with the story, and I just... aren't a fan of him or of Marisa Tomei.
I am one of few people on Earth who was not happy over supporting actor in a drama, and I'm leaving it at that because I am not about to get into a debate about this, lol. I have debated the shit out of it with enough people already.
I am very happy for all that 30 Rock won. Hell, Tina and the show were worth it for their fucking speeches. "Tina and I had a deal that if Barack Obama won the Presidency, I would represent the show from now on" TRACY MORGAN IS A FUCKING CRAZY PERSON, LOL. And Tina, oh Tina. "Dianefan, SUCK IT" - one of the greatest acceptance speeches ever made. Up there with every one Hugh Laurie ever made, lol. I would have preferred David Duchovny win than Alec Baldwin, but I can't say I mind. I was fine with either Californication or 30 Rock for comedy, I'm easy. I wouldn't have thrown a tantrum over The Office, obviously, I just didn't feel it deserved it this year.
SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE. Now. I wish I'd seen this sooner because honestly last night put me off rather than made me more interested. I just don't think it looks anything special and I have never been a fan of the British indie scene at all. I just never understood the appeal and much of what we put out there feels sub par, to me. I am alone in this view, apparently. Has anybody seen it? Is it really that good? I think Lindsey was underwhelmed? Idk.
AND JUST BECAUSE I CAN'T NOT MENTION HER, LISA WAS TOTES MY FAVE DRESS. She just shone, seriously. Every little thing about her was flawless and so beautifully put together. I'm pretty sure it's the best she's ever looked at one of these things.
Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Morrison, Eva Longoria, Jane Krakowski, Mary Louise Parker - I. APPROVE. They all looked beautiful.
That was so rambly, I'm sorry. I type more when I'm tired. THIS IS KEEPING ME AWAKE, KINDA. My tea made me feel a little more human, though. I will need coffee at lunch D:
IN OTHER NEWS, ONE WEEK TODAY UNTIL HOUSE, BITCHES. And yet, FOX have still not put up an official press release and we know next to nothing about any future episodes. A title for 5x13 and some vague spoilers for the 100th and that's it. WTH, FOX. WHERE. ARE. THE PRESS RELEASES? WHERE ARE THEY?!!
