a thousand years - chapter 4
“shut up” eunhyuk walks out first then followed by donghae and sungmin. with that they finally go the school gym.
-at the school gym-
“...so, how do you play basket ball?” eunhyuk ask stubbornly. His new classmates were pacticall froze at the stupid question. Seriously, no one’s ever thought of having someone at time who still doesn’t know how to play BASKETBALL! No one dared to answer eunhyuk’s question
“JUST HURRY UP AND TELL ME!” eunhyuk snapped and kick some random classmate
With all the commotion that is happening donghae just watched eunhyuk mingle with NORMAL PERSON and from eunhyuk opinion he needs to improve his social skills
“donghae-sshi” a group of girls approached donghae. Donghae faced the girls ignoring the commotion that eunhyuk started
“eunhyuk is cool~” said by one of the girls that admired the red head “do you know him?” another one ask. “he looks like a gentleman with manners!” they added
“gentleman…?” donghae mentally ask himself. “yea, maybe you could consider us close” “ ..but when it comes to food he’s-“then a loud THWACK. Eunhyuk just throwed the ball to donghae head to make him shut up. This causes donghae to have a dark aura around him while glaring at eunhyuk, then diverted his attention back to the girls. Still having a dark aura around him donghae started to talk behid the back of eunhyuk. Telling the girls thing like he’s mean, and selfish, and he has a bad mouth. All the girls could do was laugh awkwardly.
Donghae started to mingle with his other classmates. He laugh with them, tell stories and jokes. He is having a good time. Eunhyuk watch donghae silently as the brunette mingle with his own race, humans.
-eunhyuk pov-
-for a long while, I’ve been living away from humans... and now they are tell me to be with them. I didn’t know what to do...what is this unexplainable feeling of being uncomfortable?
I diverted my attention and I started learning on what is this basketball thing. To my surprise sungmin knows about this game! He is even teaching me how to play.
The game started and one of my human classmates passed me the ball and I followed what sungmin taught me I jumped and dunked the ball into the net. After that I sat on the basketball ring. This action left my new classmate stun. I was puzzled by their reaction so I asked them “ what? The ball needed to be thrown in the basket right?” I can still see the shocked from their faces. One of them manage to talk “ y-yeah... but eunhyuk you...”
I just realize that I did too much , for normal humans my jump for them is fly.
For a moment I realize that I do not know the limit of my strength. I guess I’ve been forgetting...how I look... in human being’s eyes.
I woke up to my thoughts as I hear a loud commotion outside the gym. One of the students shouted the name donghae, which caught my attention; I saw donghae outside the gym, already on his knees. Clutching his fist against his chest. his movements tells you that he’s in pain. On the top of that other students started to gather around him. “donghae are you alright?” a student from the crowed asked. I got worried. And run to his place
“Donghae!!!” don’t tell he...
I quickly grab him “DONGHAE!!” “WHERE? WHERE ARE YOU HURT?” I shouted I was so worried he looked back with tears in his eyes and muttered my name.
“ a cat bit my finger” he pouted
“...c-cat?” that all I could say. Hell! I was so worried for nothing. I surrender “are you trying to scare me?”
“donghae you shouldn’t mess with the cat anymore” sungmin scolded him
“I can leave him with all those wounds” donghae fight back
I notice that the cat was on the top of the tree. And donghae was right the cat has a lot of wounds and scars.
“ if he’s alone, he wouldn’t be able to walk back” donghae reasoned out “come on here kitty, I’ll take care of you” he tried to tame the cat. But in return the cat hissed causing other students to be frightened of what donghae was doing.
Then I realized something...why I feel so uncomfortable
“the cat knows how different he was from a human.” “and how humans aren’t that strong enough to take him in... face it”
They’re living in different worlds”
“eunhyuk!” donghae shouted “wait a second... don’t overlap your self with..” I just smile back at him. For I just realize the huge difference between humans and me. So I left.
-3rd person point of view-
A gust of wind went by and the red head was gone.
“eunhyuk!” donghae shouted hoping the red head will hear his voice
The other students were puzzled “how did he- wha- where’s eunhyuk?” they manage to ask “donghae are you alright?”
“ yeah! Im fine” “ by the way would you like to go with me to find the cat earlier after school?”
“sorry we can’t...” the students reason out
“oh... that’s ok” donghae assured
After school donghae immediately runs out of the classroom leaving sungmin behind.
“now where did that cat go?” he mentally ask himself as he starts to find the wounded cat from earlier
Little did he know that there is someone who is watching him from the school’s rooftop
“are you gonna be fine like this?” sungmin ask the figure in front of him as he opens the rooftops door.
“ hey sungmin, - that day...” “ why did I save him?” the red head question the man that was about to approach him
“he said that he wanted to live with me and I thought..” he pauses as he tried to find the right word “ it doesn’t have to be a thousand years...i just want him to be here a little bit longer.” He finishes his statement and faces the smaller man behind him with eyes locked to each other “ why did I think that way..?”
“you really want to know? follow him and you’ll know the answer” sungmin answered
-mean while-
Donghae finds the little kitten at the side walk of a bridge.
“its dangerous there kitty...come here” the brunette was trying to tame the cat. But still the cat hissed back at him
“ just give it up” eunhyuk suddenly speak. He was at the top of the support pillar of the bridge. “ what will he do after getting help out of sympathy from you?” the red head defended. “can you even take care of him for a long time?”
“you’re just afraid” donghae fight back “ you afraid of interacting with humans and receiving fight from them. its your choice if you overlap your self with this cat, but its is wrong to force your weakness along with it...”
“ your just getting your self into trouble!” eunhyuk snapped
“ don’t under estimate. I’ll show you...that humans are really strong” eunhyuk was speechless from donghae’s words
with that donghae tries to reached for the cat but the kitten stepped backwards causing him to fall. Donghae with his reflexes tried to catch the cat but failed. So he jumped from the bridge to reach the falling cat.
Still stunned with the situation,eunhyuk jumps to catch the falling brunette ad the cat.
They both ended up to the river.
“donghae!” eunhyuk said as they emerges from the water.
Donghae grabs the free hand of eunhyuk and put it in his heart.
“can you hear it? this is the life you gave me. I’m here now because of you.”
Eunhyuk became vulnerable and tremble “let go..”
“no. I’ll never leave you” donghae looked straight to the others eyes telling him that everything is gonna be alright
Eunhyuk gave up at donghae’s pushiness. He rested his head on the brunette’s shoulder. “I’m losing my strength” the red head said as he full lean on donghae’s body giving the brunette all of his weight.
“HE-HEAVY!!YOUR HEAVY!” donghae protested
