I'm still alive..honest!

It's been a while since i posted, things have been crazy around here with the new baby and M working pretty much 7 days a week on night shifts, sigh, hopefully that'll be over with soon and we can spend some time together again. I know he's missing the princess something awful, he waited a long time to be a dad and now he feels like he's missing it..i feel for him, and to be honest, i'm more than ok with letting him get up at 3am to ..bond..yeah, that's it, BOND!

Baby girl is growing like a bad weed, she was 6 months old on Thursday, time certainly flies, of course corrected she's only just barely 4 months old but she definitely is acting much more like a 6 month old than a 4 month old. She's hitting her milestones for the most part, and she's babbling up a storm, she's even making some consonant sounds now which is wonderful. It bodes well for her neurological development later on. She's beefing up every day and she's finally made it to the midline on the growth chart for her corrected age, so she's doing great. Looking more and more like Daddy every day though, she got my nose but that's about it, the rest of her is definitely her Dad's side of the family. The common opinion is that she looks like M's dad, which i'm ok with...there will never be any doubt about what family she belongs to despite the bright blue eyes and the blonde blonde blonde hair she seems to be keeping. Long legged, blue eyed, blonde....her poor father is already pulling his hair out at the thought..LOL

Tomorrow we have her hearing test in the morning, they'll monitor her until she's 6 since not only is there hearing loss in my family but she was considered a Micro-Preemie. The hearing test is fairly simple and won't bother her in the slightest provided she does what they ask and sleeps through it. She can't eat or sleep for 3 hurs prior to the test so tomorrow morning should be tough on both her and i. Once we get to the clinic she can eat and hopefully pass out so they can get the data they need easily. After that we have to come home, grab some lunch and then be back out to her Pediatrician's office for 1:30...this is not going to be a fun appointment, she's due for her 6 month needles, her flu shot, and the first of 5 monthly RSV vaccines..4 needles in one afternoon should make for one heck of a cranky little girl. Let's hope Daddy can sleep through it..lol

Other than that, not much going on. We're headed out to pick up her crib tonight so that she can stop trying to climb out of her bassinette. We picked up a crib on kijiji that we liked in the store...not the colour we wanted really, but for 200 dollars less than the retail price for a crib that's been used for less than a month is more than reasonable. We can always replace it with the set we really want once we are settled into the new house...provided we EVER move...grumble. Now i just have to go out and pick up the screws, that's the only downside to this crib..it's missing the hardware, which doesn't bother me all that much since they're fairly easy to replace either through the company or through a place like fastenal.com.

Big kids are doing great, Tamara's flourishing at the new school, her birthday party this year was well attended which is a nice change for her, and the phone rarely stops ringing in the evenings around here between friends calling to chat and get homework help. She's helping her french teacher teach certain parts of the french curriculum which she finds amusing..they're apparently covering subjects that Tamara did in the second grade...which accounts for her perfect test scores up to this point. Connor's doing so well that his teacher has informed us that if he didn't know he had an education plan in place he wouldn't have even thought it was something he needed. So all in all..things are going well with the monsters. M has been such a stable and calming influence on them. They're different kids these days, so much more confident and relaxed...they've taken to calling him Daddy which is a huge compliment for him..he always looks so thrilled when he hears it...so i guess they're good for him too.... It's such a shame it's taken so long for him to be a dad, he's so incredibly good at it.

M and i are doing well...we celebrated our 4th anniversary last night...well...yesterday was our anniversary...we'll celebrate later this week. It's hard to believe that it's been 4 years that we've been together, it seems like longer than that, and not nearly that long, all at the same time. All i know is that we're still very much in love, moreso every day, and we've managed to get through the single most stressful experience of our lives this past year..and rather than pulling us apart, which is not an uncommon thing in preemie parents relationships, it's only made us closer and cemented us together. He's my best friend, and the man i'll spend my life with. Never will i doubt how much he loves me, and i hope he'll never doubt how much i love him.

Happy anniversary Sweetheart.

and because everyone loves adorable baby pictures....

For the sake of reference, when we brought her home from the hospital she weighed 4lbs 13oz and the restraint strap of this bouncy seat was so big it came up to her armpits and we couldn't get it tight enough. Now, it's on the loosest setting and i'm thinking it's not going to last much longer since she's rapidly outgrowing it. Amazing the change 4 months can make.

Her new best friend eyeore...we can't go anywhere without him otherwise the crying is epic..he understands her, she tells him her problems and he can always make her feel better...LOL
