BLARG...that's my official statement today!

So M left at 4:30 this morning for work. He's off to the London/Kitchener area for the next 8 weeks, which sucks. I'd kinda like it if he could get something closer to home next time. this single parenting thing doesn't work for me:(

Preparations for feast are coming along, i spent the majority of the weekend making the preserves that will be going out with a few of the dishes. Today i have to get the apple butter made and then that's done. Tomorrow i shop for everything but the meat which will be ready for me to pick up on Thursday. We got a great deal on the meat through a butcher in bowmanville that we'll be recommending to anyone who asks. The guy got us rabbit for 6 bucks a pound, the best i could find anywhere else was 7.99 a pound..so he's sorta my hero at the moment...LOL. I have some pre-cooking to do this week, shortbread and gingerbread to make, lemon ice to mix and get into the freezer, etc, but other than that things are pretty much under control. I have to figure out the kitchen schedule, when things are going in and coming out of the ovens and the like, but that won't take a lot of work. So i'm feeling pretty good about things.

We decided not to take that house we saw and loved :( As much as we would have loved it, circumstances are shaping up in a way that come this time next year we may be in the market to buy a place and we really can't justify moving Tamara out of yet another school for the sake of a year. The poor kid has been through 6 schools in the past 8 years and i really don't want to put her through that again. So, we plan to stay in this school area, at least until we are ready to move somewhere that we will be staying in for a while. I'm sad though, i really loved that house....Sometimes being a responsible parent sucks.....that's all i'm saying.

So, that's about it for stuff going on around here, i've got to bring the preserves in off the back porch today, so they don't freeze and spoil. Spoiled jars of Apple Mint Jelly, Spiced Pear Sauce, and Orange, Plum and Fig Conserve would be bad....they took too much time to make. i'll make the apple butter today and then the most time consuming part of my day will be taken care of and i can move on to shortbread on Wednesday. Whee
