I am so sick and tired of flakey photographers...
Last minute cancellations
(todays was a whole FOUR hours before call time)
and the words "I'll make it up to you"
Really?
you going to give me back the time I wasted last night
packing wardrobe
and hair and makeup crap
or the time I spent sitting in traffic this morning
because I chose to drive
rather than fight rush hour crowds on the train
with a suitcase and makeup box
what about the lunch hour I skipped
so I could get out of here early
and to the location
so we could start on time?
Not to mention the sky fucking high gas prices
the quarter of a tank gas burned today in traffic - $7.50
bridge toll - $3.00
parking in the financial district - $21.00
"I'll make it up to you"
"I owe you one"
The assumption that I had nothing better to do this evening (or any other day)
and that my time isn't worth anything
unless I am in front of the lense
What really grates is the confused look or noise I get when asking for a kill fee ...
Today's photographer grudgingly offered to cover parking...
after telling me he'd never heard of a 'kill fee' ...
I am SERIOUSLY thinking of starting a policy where all new photographers will be required to pay a 100$ deposit to book a shoot. It would be applied to the final rate. If they cancel with at least 5 days notice it would be refunded.
