Meanwhile, 'The Dog Days Are Over' is probably my Hunger Games song I actually seem to assign artists to fandoms, if that makes sense, so Florence and the Machine has a few songs that are Hunger Games-esque, but this is the one I most relate to the series. And I hit it on random shuffle and now I'm re-reading the book series

Beastly and Red Riding Hood were off my list immediately just because they seemed to be yet more droll crap capitalizing on the Twilight motif.

And Florence+The Machine seems to apply to every fandom somehow, seeing as they've shown up on just about every fanmix ever over the past year. (including mine. orz)

I am so damn sad about Red Riding Hood and Beastly, because adult/modern retellings of fairy tales could be done really well and not fail completely at everything. In my ideal retell of Red Riding Hood, she grows up to be a wolf-slayer and her arch nemesis is the gingerbread house witch. SEE HOW MUCH BETTER IT IS?

I kind of think that the music has to do with discovery. I mean, I think of Black Jewels Trilogy when I listen to Vanessa Carlton because I bought the CD when I was reading the books. >_

I'm always fascinated by how different of a meaning a song/artist can have if you just apply it to a different character/series.

(And I actually more often tend to associate books with foods that I eat while reading them)

Bahahaa, yeah I am kind of a sucker for those retellings. (And I just read a fairy tale gag doujinshi for Kuroshitsuji, so now I'm picturing Red Riding Hood with a chainsaw. It's kind of awesome.)

I think I just try to eat the same kind of food that are in the books I'm reading. Redwall: fruit pie and veggie soups, BJT: stew and baked goods, Harry Potter: British food, Hunger games: turkey legs, hot chocolate, dried fruit, oishinbo Manga: nabe, udon, sushi. Lord of the Rings makes me want mushrooms. XD

Reminds me of how my sister and I started eating raw mushrooms when we got Alice In Wonderland on tape. Not because we liked the taste at all, but we'd peel bits off one half and pretend to grow, etc. XD

I feel like drawing action girl/slasher red riding hood now, even though I'm sure it's been done already. XD
