I think Saetan/Sylvia especially was heartbreaking for me because I took it as a given. We all knew it was happening, and then...WHAM. He gets tortured and refuses to see her and it's over. And I sob unhappily.
I know! I had no question about them being together and then WHAM.
It's not going to happen.
It's particularly tragic because Saetan went through SO many bad women in his life, and honesty, you don't get better than Saetan, so Sylvia is always going to be going 'if only.'
Yeah, he's the catch of a lifetime that went astray. And I don't think she'll ever know why, which makes it even more sad. Although if she did, I'd like to think she'd persuade him otherwise.
Saetan really did go through a long list of bad relationships. You'd think he could get this one. I mean, out of all the people in the book series, he really does deserve it.

You know, you're right. I was about to protest that Saetan would have told her some variant of the truth, but I bet what he really did was hide behind Protocol; tell her it was over without giving her much recourse about it. And Sylvia is an adult; she wouldn't have continued to try and be in a relationship with him if she thought he didn't want her anymore.

YOU TOTALLY NEED TO WRITE IT.
