there is no level of unappreciation like daycare

Gwen's parents brought cupcakes for the teachers today. Hurray Teacher Appreciation Week.

I think teachers should get mandatory Godiva chocolates and a nice bottle of hard liquor of choice, personally.

God, I'm tired.

real life, daycare, children of the damned

The alcohol thing made me remember: one of my mom's second graders moved here from Korea. Nobody in his family speaks English and at the beginning of the year he was at 0 words comprehension. By Christmas time Mom had him up to 19 words. So for Christmas his parents gave her a bottle of Jack Daniels :D

Cupcakes are what you bring for the kidlets. Just because teachers are with kids all day does not mean they want to eat like them. Well, that could just be my attitude because I often get headache after eating such things.

I had no clue it was even Teachers apperication week. Though that might explain all the strange gifts from the PTA and such at work today....

I honestly am very picky about my baked goods. It needs to be buttercream of an extremely high quality (these guys made their own icing, but they put too much sugar and too much vanilla extract in it,) whipped cream frosting, or cream cheese. And the cake has to be actually good. *is such a dessert snob* I don't get a headache, but I like moderate sweetness.

*lol* Yup. I got a bath set last year. That was nice. And the school always provides some cheap-ass present, like water bottles or canvas bags.

I was just thinking about how much I love baking, when I actually get around to it, because then there is yumminess (I'm eating banana bread...) when I read this line. Ironic.

Your cupcake standards sound delicious. :)

Thanks! I'm pretty similar about baking: love to cook when I have a nice, shiny recipe to try out, but not on a daily basis. And banana bread is delish. <3 I have this zucchini bread I've been meaning to make, but never get around to.

As for cupcakes, there is one cupcake place in Georgetown that I adore. Pretty much the only cupcake place that I have so far adored. Almost all their frosting is the cream cheese sort and it's delectable.

And, in a brilliant fusion between chocolate and liquor, CHOCOLATE LIQUOR. I need to get me some of that.

I want to make some of Martha Stewart's cupcakes. They have sticky toffee pudding cupcakes, and stout-flavored, and lime ginger. Stuff like that.

Oh, man. I love the chocolate liquor bottles. You're right about them only being good when fresh, though. XD
