the autumn days grow short and cold

Nov 27, 2009 09:17

So, for Thanksgiving, we had turkey, rolls, mashed potatoes and gravy, blaukraut, candied sweet potatoes, and acorn squash halves with sweet cinnamon-nutmeg sauce in the middle. And pumpkin pie for dessert, of course. All very delicious, but I was glad to see the day go. I love dinner, but Thanksgiving Day is dull as all get out. Barely anything is ( Read more... )

I didn't know you knew (and liked!) the black jewels trilogy!

Lucivar's favorite thing to do to Marion.

Sorry, I got this confused with a different meme.

The black jewels trilogy... in space.

"Captain Saetan, we have spotted a planet-sized body," stated a helmsman from his post. She fiddled with a few likely buttons before a display opened up, showing the crew on deck what looked to be a life-sustaining planet, glistening blue from oceans and brown-green with land and plant life ( ... )

Wow, this works... surprisingly well. I can just see the sleek black ship Saetan's captianing.

This was a blast to read.

Thanks! I think Saetan's ride would be astoundingly cool. He and Daemon would be sizing each other's ships and everything. XD

(I think Lucivar's favorite thing to do with Marion is a sexier version of that Virgin Night dream illusion thing, come to think of it, thanks for that thought-haunting question. XD)

I think I like Black Jewels Trilogy a lot in concept, and I love a lot of its minor and tertiary characters. I don't like Jaenelle and Daemon, I don't really like Marion/Lucivar so much because all his well-intentioned bullying hit a squick of mine, (I did ship him and Karla, though,) and my one big turn off to the series was the treatment of the landens. But I admit that it was a gorgeous piece of world building with an interesting caste system. I loved Saetan and Sylvia and Surreal, and Karla, and Wilhemina, and Marion, and a bunch of others I can not recall at the moment.

Oooh, you're right, he would love doing that with her.

I don't really like Marion/Lucivar

Seriously?!?!?! I thought I was the only one who was disappointed that not only did Lucivar and Karla NOT end up together, Karla DID NOT GET a HEA. Karla losing her virginity to Lucivar actually felt a bit like a black-hand slap after that.

I loved Saetan and Sylvia and Surreal, and Karla

Word. Have you read "The Shadow Queen"? Because while I found the last book with Surreal sub-par "The Shadow Queen was a return to form, imho.

Nooo, I haven't read The Shadow Queen! Is that a new book, or a short story?

It's a new novel that I would strongly recommend. And then go read my post about it so we can chat. ^_^
