So, I just used the abalone shell beads I purchased at the gem show and a bunch of bronze-colored freshwater pearls to make a bracelet and necklace set for my mother. I'm hoping to buy what I need to make a pair of earrings, as well. Since my mom has delicate ears, the posts will need to be gold, so that should be fun to buy. I'll try to take ( Read more... )

(A) Suki dies in battle against rogue Fire Nation soldiers that formed a sort of nomadic, land pirate nation. Ty Lee, a member of Suki's warriors, who had just been building a friendship with her, joins up with Sokka to hunt down the killers and avenge Suki. They strike up a friendship. She helps him get over his guilt and eventually they have a romantic relationship, though it would take them a while to get very close.

They would make a good couple because, well, they're both the goofier members of their groups, and her bouncy optimism would help him out with his pessimistic spurts. She's also thoughtful, and tries to help her friends out with their problems. Sokka would help give her some stability, and they'd both help each others' inferiority complexes.

(B)

"You don't want to go back to Kyoshi?" Ty Lee asked. Her voice, normally loud, perky, and obscenely cheery, was hushed. She tended to speak that way about the attack, about her fallen commander who had been his lover, about her family back home. She reacted to sorrow with silence and hushed tones, with insecurity. Ty Lee didn't seem entirely used to mourning.

She sat in an almost impossible twisted position, stretching her muscles as she spoke. Sokka sighed. "Not yet. I can't yet. It's like the moon."

Ty Lee gave him a quizzical look that eventually softened into one of understanding.

"A while after Yue died, I couldn't look at the moon without seeing her face and my failure. Kyoshi island is...it's full of women and statues of women painted like her, dressed like her. It's like a town full of Suki. I can't."

Ty Lee stared forward for a while, her sorrowful expression changed to something else, unreadable to Sokka. The silence stretches around them like a long-limbed cat, comfortable and familiar. "I understand," she tells him. Then corrected herself. "Well, no. Not exactly. You see, the Fire Nation was my home, but not really. I traveled. I've always traveled. One place hasn't held me, I've never been connected or tied down. I've liked it that way. I've always..." she trailed off, her expression shifting, her brow wrinkling in though. "Drifted. Wandered. I like that kind of life."

She looked at him. "So I can wait. And I'll travel with you."
