So, the children I babysit had a surprise for me when I came over. They had persuaded their parents to rent a DVD full of OT TMNT episodes ("Because Miss Ivy loooooves the ninja turtles!") and proceeded to sit me down on the couch so we could have a three hour OT Ninja Turtle-watching marathon. During which they had many comments over the turtles, who they referred to as their mask color, Shredder, Krang, and their awesome ninja exploits. The kids decided they liked 'the blue one' and 'the orange one' the best. I was cool with this, because my opinions are pretty much aligned with that. Some bits of TMNT-centric kid talk are:
Gillian: Miss Ivy can pick out all the ninja turtles with her eyes closed! *as if this is a powerful skill*
Russell: Is that rat Splinter?
Ivy: Yes, small child.
Russell: His name is Splinter because he's full of Splinters.
Gillian: I like Krang. He's cute.
And then they sang the theme song all night, played pretend karate, and occasionally yelled 'Turtle Power!' They then told me to bring my TMNT movies the next time I came over. "First one first," said Gillian, decisively. I think I have successfully corrupted the next generation.
