Wow, interesting AU. I like that, given a "normal" stable family to live with, Sam accepts it, but Dean runs as fast and as far as he can. Great story!

Thanks for the feedback! I loved toying with these two -- they're still both basically the same, but you give them any other father than John Winchester and Sam's the goody-two-shoes and Dean's the one having screaming fights with his parents.

i'm guessing there's no jess in sam's life, so for him to be dreaming about his mom - or whoever the woman on the ceiling is supposed to be - is creepy. there's no future context for it. (well, not yet....) i can hear the boys' voices in my head, which is always good, and i love "Some social worker or something tried to take you to get checked for smoke inhalation. I'm pretty sure I bit her." because it sounds so dean.

Awesome fic. I love this AU - it's a very cool twist and i don't think i've read anyuthing like it before (and i have read alot of fics) - so congrats on such an original idea.

I really would love to read more - are you starting this as a verse/multi-chapter???? (please god say yes!!!!) ♥

Yay original idea! I've only been in SPN fandom a little over a month, and though I wouldn't want to estimate how much fic I've actually managed to read in that time, it's nice to hear this hasn't been tried before. Though I have seen a story where Mary lives and John dies.

I, um, didn't actually intend this to be a multi-chapter. *hides* I may revisit. Not promising anything! That way lies madness and tears.

I don't know any more about the Marines than you do, but I think you were nonspecific enough to avoid mistakes. I love this idea, it's an AU I haven't seen before - Dean and Sam adopted together and raised by another family. I just love this whole fic.
