- replace that with low-cal snacks for times of desperate need such as: celery, cucumber, baby carrots, lettuce/spinach, sugarfree jello, sugarfree/fatfree pudding. these are my personal staples. ONLY snack on these after you've reached a set time and ONLY when you honestly feel like you can't stand another minute(for instance, i consume ONLY water/diet coke until 6pm, after which i usually am going a little nuts from calorie deprivation and allow myself a few bites of these snacks, which barely add up to a significant amount of calories. they also give me some fuel through the night so i don't keep waking up to the sound of my stomach grumbling and churning with hunger)
- throughout the day, drink only no/low-calorie drinks such as water, tea, diet coke and crystal light. NO full-calorie beverages allowed. no exceptions. coffee? get it black. no lattes allowed.
- throughout the day when you're desperate to chew on something, do NOT give into food and go for a mint or piece of gum instead. i've literally gone through tens of packs of sugarfree gum in the past few days - and they have been such a savior for my oral fixation.
- EXERCISE. make sure you're burning those calories, otherwise you're not burning fat! do the elliptical, treadmill, whatever works for you! it tones your body, takes up time that you'd probably be using to think about food, speeds up metabolism, and burns those calories.
- be productive: whenever you're feeling hungry, do laundry or homework, watch a movie in a room EMPTY of food, talk on teh phone with a friend, clean up your room, etc. you'll end up feeling more accomplished and better about yourself than if you ate that slice of pizza and are now feeling like shit over the toilet.
- every time you're tempted to take a bite of food, just think of what the consequences will be: will you be happy after that 1 bite? will that 1 bite actually satisfy your craving or are you going to end up stuffing your face with the entire cookie, and end up binging and purging?
- speaking of purging, DO NOT give into mia. your face is just going to look bloated and unattractive, and i dont care what other people say - it does NOT lead to weight loss, you're STILL taking in calories, and it is SO, SO bad for you. please don't give into mia. be stronger than that.
- when you're feeling particularly hopeless and ready to give into eating something fatty or just eating at all, look in the mirror. undress yourself. remind yourself why you are suffering now - because it's going to pay off and make yourself feel and look 100 times better when you get on that scale in a few days. at the same time, admire yourself and remind yourself that you ARE beautiful, so you can only get MORE beautiful by shedding that fat!
- try on clothes that don't fit you. aspire to fit in them.
- when you're feeling hungry, take a hot shower. it makes you feel better and relaxed, takes your mind off of food, and reminds you of the extra fat on your body that you want to get rid of.
- forgive yourself. as long as you have self-control, it's perfectly fine to have ONE bite of a cookie, or ONE cracker, or whatever. it's when you get past that "one" bite and it turns into a binge, that it's not okay, and that you'll end up feeling like shit. don't give into the power of food, let yourself have control instead.
keep in mind, this is not so much a physical test but a mental test. giving into food isn't just giving into your physical need for hunger, but your mental weakness and inability to control what you indulge in. Don't indulge in calories, indulge in beauty, your self-esteem, who you are, and what makes you happy.
i hope that helped!! let me know if you have any questions or if i can be of any other help!
