Where Has Common Courtesy Gone???
Okay, when the hell did I turn into an old fogey making grimacing faces at the rude, obnoxious kids whose parents didn't teach them manners? I think I'd rather be that though, than somenone who thinks public rudeness at a vocal performance is 'okay' because the stupid people are 'happy' and not being 'happy' that they were 'happy' makes me a 'overbearing stick in the mud'???? WTF???
These are people who expect and demand respect for their Clergy status in the pagan community. OMFG!!!! Why is this getting on my nerves? Probably because I AM pagan clergy, trained and accredited through a real live pagan church and these people and their behavior are making me sick to my stomach that they could be seen as representative of the same pagan community I serve.
It's gotten to where I don't have much positive to say when I post to the local list anymore. I am becoming more and more insular towards my Craft, towards my gods, and the pagans in the community who understand what being a pagan actually means. I guess I could claim other labels, but I really am all of those. Witch, Pagan, Wiccan Initiate and all those terms mean something differnt to different people. I can't force them to have the same definition I have, but you'd think there would be some pretty pervasive similarities in those 'differing opinions'.
Apparently I am a too serious, no smiling overbearing stick in the mud because I expect people to conduct themselves quietly at a concert instead of lauging and carrying on in the corner, even after the vocalist has mentioned that the people should cease their noisiness. Apparently I, BEING Pagan Clergy, am overbearing and controlling for speaking out to those who think it's okay to be rude and loud at a concert where people were trying to listen to music.
What the hell world did I wake up in? Am I just dealing with people with zero digit IQ's????? WTF?? My mama isn't pagan, in no way shape or form, but she taught me better than that. I'm fairly sure these people weren't raised pagan either, so this can't be something they were taught to BE as pagans, it has to be something they chose. I just don't understand that. I really really don't.
