On the list of YES here lately has been ring shopping. I purchased a stone from Tzaddia at FOS, a nice oval chrome dioptase. It's in the hardness neighborhood of emeralds, which should be a no no..but I want and have always wanted a GREEN engagement ring. Had one once, an emerald, a LARGE emerald surrounded by diamonds. It was nice...but the diamonds...meh. I don't like diamonds. I don't like sapphires either. I don't like yellow gold. I prefer silver over most metals but also like platinum.
With tax season and refunds upon us, Robb decided it was time to go ring shopping. So we took the stone and went to Markman's (the staff were awesome) and because I knew exactly what I didn't want, it was fairly simple to pick out something I could live with. I WANTED the Tacori platinum setting, but JUST the setting was 4K!!! Even if we had the money there is no way on earth I would do that. It's just senseless. I'm aware most women would swoon..and that's fine. That's the difference between me and most women, and I am good with that.
Here's a pic of the setting we chose, with the stone laying in the top. The mounting will have to be switched out for an east/west setting, but it was gorgeous. The pic does not do it justice. For once, here's a piece of jewelry I can't wait to wear. There are too many diamonds for my taste, but it was my nod to make him happy. Apparently men are concerned with how it LOOKS because of how it makes THEM look...meh..whatever.
And so will end the era of anybody being able to refer to me as 'the live-in girlfriend'. Even though I have been with Robb longer than anybody else he's been with, I have resisted legal marriage - for a lot of reasons. Chief of those reasons was because I did not want my information coupled with his in legal documents. The con-artist already has his ssn...and god knows what else, and I just don't want MY info available to her. Not much she could do with it, as I don't buy 'stuff' and don't rack up credit or anything...I mean, I'm just not 'normal' like that, never have been. But the idea that she could find out things that she has no business knowing...yeah, that bothered me. She already has caused so much havoc, this was one area where I had the control and wasn't budging.
But nowadays, things are 'red-acted'...personal identifiers like your ssn and address. You still have to be careful, ask the right questions and such, but it's possible to avoid having her able to access my info. I told him he could get me a lifetime membership in Lifelock for a wedding present..lol.
Anyway, here's a pic of the set...I just love it. The stone is Chrome Dioptase, in the same hardness area as emeralds, and going up daily by the carat in price. This is a 7 x 5 mm stone that will lie, as in the pic, east/west in the mounting. We will have it in two weeks. I just love tax time!
