I still love Sloth so much, but this one is my second favourite now. Everything you describe is so very tangible, so very real. I read it and I actually /see/ them, you know? Plus you carried it off in first person which wows me. I find it can be a really irritating mode to read sometimes, but you made it a treat. It invites you to share things first hand just as the narrator offers up his experiences for perusal. Works very well.

"Fernando is sleek cedar and straw" really worked for me. I can't explain it, but I read it and thought yes! that's him. That mix of something amazing and beautiful and something more, not coarse, but everyday, touchable. And you get the giving-ness of them all. The openness of Alvaro and Fernando and the instruction related to Xabi. Yet also the differences between Alvaro and Fernando. Each is painted with such care. It's always amazing to me how much of a grasp you have on them all. All you have to say is "Xabi doesn't fuck; the word insults him" and I'm on the same page as you. Same as "sleek caramel walls and a great, bright window", that is Alvaro so completely.

Am glad it worked. Incidentally, who did you have as the "I"?

Hope you have been okay, dear. Did essays take forever? I had been worried.

You see our Martin fucked himself up again? Twice, in fact, in one game.

Stupid boy.

I don't know. Initially I thought Fernando until he popped up and then I thought of Stevie, but it didn't feel like Stevie at all. After that I admit I didn't think too much about it. Just let it almost be me, you know? I see you said to someone else you were thinking of Finnan. That fits very well for me. The quietness seems to belong to him very much when I read it through with him in mind.

Essays were shit, aye. And then I had to pack to go home which is why I have been so absent!

I listened to it on the radio (with my reading supporting housemate which made it interesting!) as couldn't see it. They mentioned that he went over the ad boards at one point! I was seriously worried for awhile. I mean christ, how does he do that? The commentators were Reading supporters as it was a local station and they kept talking about how he was supposedly fouling a lot without fouls being given. Would you agree with that? By the sound of it he was pretty active and made a decent nuisance out of himself. Don't remember a second time though. What did he do? He is a daft creature sometimes indeed. He's lucky that somehow that makes him a little endearing.

Stevie does not have that voice. He is too common. If you want it to be you then that is your choice. Perhaps it is you.

Glad Essays are over with, etc.

He went over the ad boards, stayed down for a full minute before even moving. Allegedly, he twatted his head and looked semi conscious, did not know where he was. He also injured his arm.

Then, later on, he injured his arm again but our beautiful, perfect Fabio was on hand to make him feel better. Check this out. Tell me it does not look like they are kissing.

He was well behaved. Hunt treated Alvaro like shit. Elbowed him in the head, made him bleed, almost threw him over the ads early on by grabbing his shirt and flinging him.

Reading are a horrible team.

Oh Fabio. It really does look like they are! I wonder if he was as attentive later in the changing room? Martin could use a bit of softness after such a match!

God, to not know where he was! Scary. Though I can sympathise. That time I fell off my head on my horse I had v.mild amnesia. Could not tell anyone what side of the ring we had gone down on, could not remember the course I had just been jumping. Was a little disconcerting! I respect him for getting back up and carrying on, I sat the last 15 mins of the lesson out before I rode home! He is not some fancy shite that needs to be carried off on a stretcher for a sneeze, is he? I like him more and more.

Alvaro bleeding! Jesus. Probably good thing she and I didn't have a picture to follow, things might have been stonier still. They are indeed not the most pleasant of teams. Funny thing is I was looking at match pics this morning and then at some pics from when we played them back in September. Bikey does not come off well!

from sept:

and then on saturday:

Would've thought that after the African Cup first aid guy shoving thing that he would have been forced to have some kind of anger management stuff, but apparently not! Though I suppose having a shouting match with Stevie and having to be hauled back by 3 of his teammates probably is an improvement of sorts!

Perhaps after he has Had Daniel in that horrific hotel room he can go and crawl into Fabios loving arms.

Hee aw, poor you. They just said he sat there and looked like he was not quite conscious, just kind of staring. That is why the medics all came over because he did not move for ages. Looked dazed.

No, he saw the St Johns Ambulance bloke then snapped out of it, by the looks of it! Aw.

No Bikey is a little cunt isnt he?

Yes, yes, that is a lovely idea. Fabio wouldn't ask anything of him. Wouldn't question. They could just curl up sweetly. He would be utterly taken care of.

Is it terribly wrong though that I almost like to imagine Martin flinching at some points? Further still, them kissing and him pressing harder, harder, harder on Fabio's wrists without meaning to. Somewhat tainted by earlier experiences.

Warmth and sweetness. He would wake up wrapped in love.

Sigh. I want a Fab.

Yeah I like that too. Our little Brazilian would look so utterly confused and concerned. But one cannot damage our beautiful Fab because he is, quite possibly, so damaged himself. He is so soft. So beautiful. He smiles so gently.

He forgives anything.

I'm sorry for the massive fic gap. Writing sex intimidates me sometimes, but hah, I had inspiration today.

God, yesterday was dire, wasn't it? What a lovely easter present for us! We went out to lunch so I am choosing to remember only that I ate nice food and nothing else. I hope you had a nice day too otherwise? Plenty of chocolate at least?

Did you see Fabio appealing to Masche though? Arms out pleading and then touching him lightly on the arm, standing between him and Bennett. Even touching him when Stevie had a hand round his neck and was giving him a talking to. Sigh. I want one too. He would talk to Martin like that. That same calming tone of voice. Would reach out for him, would gently touch his cheek when Martin is turning away angry, shameful, whatever. He would reassure, would build back up what Daniel tore down.

Oh no problem. I have trouble sometimes, too. Aw. Inspiring.

Dire, indeed. Did not even get any chocolate, woe. Spent all weekend talking some bloke off RAWK through his problems. Not the most fun really.

Yes, Fabio was amazingly gentle and calm wasnt he? did you see the way he held his arms out, kind of made a protective little barrier for Masche to keep Xabi and Stevie away? Bless him, he is so soft and beautiful.

He would be perfect for comfort, no?
