Jeff and I went to see Harry Potter and the Dealthy Hallows Part 2 last night at 7:30pm. We saw it in IMAX 3-D. Amazing doesn't even begin to cover it. We had to sit fairly close to the front (seriously like the fourth row) because I needed an aisle seat in case I had to make a run to the bathroom. (Being 36 weeks pregnant and all!) We went with my friend Katie from college and her husband so even though we weren't horribly far back in the line, when we did get in the theater, there were few aisle seats (especially 4 together) open apart from those in front. And for the record, I went to the bathroom twice before the movie started, but did not have to leave at all once it was on. ;)
Anyway...
I really loved the movie. I re-read only the last few chapters (my favorites) before the movie. I didn't read the book again before Part 1 either and that helped to enjoy the movie more; I wasn't so hung up on what was missing or changed since it wasn't fresh in my memory. It worked for me again this time, though I was disappointed that the King's Cross chapter (my favorite) was shortened quite a bit. Oh well. With any luck I will be able to catch the movie at least once more in the theater (though maybe not the IMAX as that theater is 45 minutes from our house). We'll see. Depends on how much more uncomfortable I get. :)
I was a sophomore in college when the first movie came out, so that was fall of 2001. I was 18 when I read the first book, December 1999. So for 12 years I've had a new book or movie to anticipate. It's very surreal to know that it's all over now. Time to be a real grown-up.
