I have a bit of a dilemma. And by "dilemma" I mean, fake problem. ;-) I have always closed my letters to people with "Love Always". So, does this mean that I'm lower than a bum off of the street? (*smirking smile, waiting to be slapped for being a smart-a$$)
I have found that the closing, "Dearly yours..." or simply "Dearly,..." works well for what you've described.
I feel that this means that you feel a closeness to someone but not quite a relationship that you could honestly say Love is a foundation of it.

I would never be offended from a lack of endearing sign-off. We have had such fun exchanges over the past year rendering the point 'moot'. I couldn't resist having some fun. ;-)
