A Question

I have a bit of a dilemma. And by "dilemma" I mean, fake problem. ;-) I have always closed my letters to people with "Love Always". Everybody gets that closing: parents, siblings, close friends, mediocre friends, students, bums of the street... What can I use instead of "Love Always" that implies that same endearment? Yours truly, sincerely, your ( Read more... )

Other options: Cheers, Best, Hugs. That's all I got. I assume if Love is out, XOX is also out. (My boss Erica signs emails to Alyson and me that way :)

Hope you're still having fun! I'm still editing all the pictures I took. I'm looking forward to reading your LJ entries about the trip!

Thanks, Em! I went with Hugs. I had also thought of Best and Yours. Then I thought Yours may not work either. And I might be putting way too much thought/anxiety into this. ;-)

Love to see pictures of SF. I like Cheers myself.

They'll be coming! I get home at 11:24pm and then have a meeting from 8 - 3 on Monday. But I'll get them online as soon as time allows. I have to get my classroom out of my apartment at some point next week as well...

Thanks for the input!

Glad you're home safe and sound, Ivy. I hope that your jet lag has dissipated by now the way mine has.

So, does this mean that I'm lower than a bum off of the street? (*smirking smile, waiting to be slapped for being a smart-a$$)

I have found that the closing, "Dearly yours..." or simply "Dearly,..." works well for what you've described.

I feel that this means that you feel a closeness to someone but not quite a relationship that you could honestly say Love is a foundation of it.

I hope that this helps.

Thanks for the suggestion, Sean! LOL, no, when I say "I sign my letters with 'Love Always'", I'm talking my real, handwritten, snail mail letters. I don't bother with closings on e-mails. :) So you should not feel offended.

Love Always,
Liz :)

Morning, Sunshine!

What topic is being taught today? Nuclear-Biology, Quantum Mechanics, perhaps... Medieval poetry?

If something just made your ears pop, it was probably me yawning. ;-)

I would never be offended from a lack of endearing sign-off. We have had such fun exchanges over the past year rendering the point 'moot'. I couldn't resist having some fun. ;-)

Sorry, to hear that your briefings/workgroups are boring. There is nothing worse than trying to look captivated by something that you wouldn't torture an enemy with. If you find yourself being pulled down, try and clear your mind and picture yourself here:
