I know I haven't been good about updating my experiences with Simplify.
I've finally finished the clinical trial around June/July, and had my last follow up at the end of July.
Throughout the whole process - I can't say that the patch is so much easier than a pill. During the summer, I had to make sure that it wasn't peeling, during hot weather the patch got REALLY hot, and overall there were some rashes involved. Not pretty.
And full disclosure, they dispensed $50 checks at each checkup, totaling $500. It was a meager amount, and the $50 doesn't add up to much... but I was paid. I didn't do it for the pay, though, and if I had a choice, I wouldn't continue to use it.
I successfully completed the trial without any complications, pregnancies, etc...
But I was disturbed recently to learn that this trial apparently had a high rate of pregnancies. My doctor sort of nonchalantly mentioned it yesterday when I was getting my IUD put in. "I guess the drug's not good. HA HA HA." WTF? I was assured by my Nurse Practitioner that this was completely safe and the dosage of progesterone was high enough as any other birth control that is all ready out there... But I'm not sure whether I would do this again.
Yeah...
