I have Fridays off which is really nice because it's the only time during the week when my roommate isn't in the room because she's at work until 5. She literally never leaves except for work. She works 9-5 and I work 11-8 and I work out from 9-11 pretty much so I never have time alone. Argh!
Aside from that we're both quiet and just watch tv or use our computer and barely ever talk. I probably should have chosen a more outgoing roommate...
Works been good. I had my best experience like 2 days ago. I was leading Mini Circuit (which is for 2-5 yr olds and we set up different stations for them to exercise at) but it didn't work out so well because when we lead the kids into the room (there were about 5) and tried to get them to sit on the wall so we could explain the rules, they just started running around the room playing with everything. It was seriously hilarious and incredibly chaotic. We had a group of almost purely 2 yr olds --> that's why they had so much trouble listening. Josh just kind of threw up his arms and got up and started playing with them. The main point of the activity was to get them moving and get their heart rate up so that's all that really mattered. So I proceeded to chase a little boy around and he ran from me and I caught him and picked him up and spun him. Another boy has the CUTEST LAUGH EVER. It's really high pitched and so giggly. He also has elfen ears that are pointed at the top. I chased him too and it was kind of silly, but I was so surprised when I caught him and his little heart was racing. It kind of solidified that fact we were in fact getting these little kids to get a good amount of exercise in order to strengthen their bodies. The first boy's little brother actually played catch with me (although he couldn't actually catch it) which was impressive since his older brother didn't even understand the concept. Josh and I just chilled with the kids and played with them for like 45 minutes and they were all happy and not complaining. The room was in utter shambles by the end and the stations weren't even really set up anymore. Cleaning up is easy though. :)
I am considerably bored here though when I'm not at work. No friends here really, no Alex, no video games. I work out and sleep most of the time. I drove back to Memphis Monday morning at 6 am. It was one long commute. Sad to not be home. I don't know if I would have decided to come down and work here if I could choose again. They're taking so much money out of my paycheck as it is that I'm losing hundreds of dollars which I need since financial aid isn't being very generous right now.
I'm actually learning some of the kids names which is a major feat for me since I typically forget names within a week. I just don't consider them particularly important I guess. We have some who come every day though so I get to know them. I definitely love being with the kids but sometimes it's incredibly tiring. Especially with older boys who will not listen and younger kids who don't know how to share yet.
I'm teaching several lessons to them right now including nutrition class on Monday, mini circuit, Super Science Saturday, and some others I'm forgetting I'm sure. I get to write lessons also anytime I want to.
OH! there's a recently turned 3 year old in our I(nfant)T(oddler) room that's incredibly obese. I'm not sure her weight but maybe 50 lbs (a wild guess though). She's incredibly large and I really wonder how EARLY she's going to hit puberty because she's developing small "breasts" already because of fat build up so it's going to be really early. She also drools a lot... She wasn't potty trained until a few months ago too. So imagine changing a girl that large's diaper.
Can't wait to come home again. I spend all my days here waiting to come home, wishing I was there. Kind of a waste of summer when I could be having fun. I'm only 19, I shouldn't have to work as hard as I do. *sigh* I get more money from being here but I don't know if it's worth it, truly.
