The downpour

Today is meant to be an awesome day. My boss is out of town, which means I can slack a tiny bit at work today. I am having Korean with a Korean after work, and that gave me the motivation to dress up a little. I wore earrings I bought from Barcelona last year which I never got the chance to. I flat ironed my hair just so it looks a little more well-kept. I even wore my favourite purple suede shoes just to match the purple/blue earrings.

The moment I stepped out of the house, the skies turned grey. Being someone who hates carrying huge items in my bag, I really struggled on whether to bring along a brolly. Eventually, the skies opened and I hurried to grab my vending-machine bought umbrella, and pouffff, out I went. Can I just complain that the wind/rain was crazy?? Despite my mightiest effort to keep myself dry, my shoes got drenched, sand got in, and my feet was very irritated (it was also super itchy!!!) by the little globules rolling up and down with each step I took. And the best part was, with a huge gust of wind, it swept like god-knows-how-much amount of rainwater onto my face, hitting my painfully ironed hair.

Now my hair is not straight, my shoes turned dark purple from being awfully soaked. Even my make up is messed up from the random splatter of rainwater. Therotically, it should have turned my awesome day to a total disaster, but news of my colleague's new born son and a couple of appreciative emails from other colleagues managed to avert just that.

So, the reason of today's post (apart from the fact that I am skiving), is the acknowledgment that life never goes as planned. It takes a lot of effort, courage and luck to steer it where you want it to be, but when it goes off course, impromptu decisions and unexpected occurrences might just spring up a decent surprise. :)

life, random
