long while

Well,
I haven't updated for a grip. I've been pretty busy. School got out in early May. I went to Cancun for a week. I was back for two weeks and then I went to Portland for a week. Now I'm back in the SL,UT and things are going well. I've really enjoyed all the traveling I've done thus far. Cancun was a blast, got to see lots of neat things (Myan ruins etc...). Portland was a fucking blast. I don't think I've had a better week in a long while. I took my bike up, it was pedalpalooza. Torfinn and I rode everywhere. One of the days we did a 50 miler on the the spring water trail, that was a blast. I got to see lots of friends, and hang out with some new people which I enjoyed quite a bit. Of course there was lots of beer involved.
Now things are pretty slow. I am working full time at Varian this summer. I really enjoy my job, and am taking full advantage of the experience I am getting. My thesis is still being held up. At this point an attorney is looking over the contract that Varian is making with the U. After that checks out I will be on my way. I don't think it's going to take long to do the research I need. I should be completed by December, which will give me plenty of time to focus on writing the actual thesis and preparing my presentation. Then in May I will be done with school.
I plan on applying for jobs starting in December. This should give me a fair amount of time to find something decent. I would really like to get into solar. If nothing else I will probably end up in metallurgy or polymers or possibly even composites. I am going to apply for jobs here, Portland, Australia, and New Zealand and just see what doors open for me. I am 90% sure I'd like to be in Portland for a couple of years. After that I would like to travel and see the world. New Zealand sounds more and more intriguing every day. We'll see where life takes me I guess.
Today Jim and I went for a 27 mile ride this morning, it was great. It took us about 90 minutes and we had a pretty strong headwind for the first half of the ride. I guess later I'm going over to some friends for a BBQ and then we'll see what happens from there. Anyways, happy 4th Enjoy the day, and don't shoot your eye out.
