Pet Peeves
You ever take one of those surveys and one of the questions is "worst pet peeve"? I've always wondered what my "worst pet peeve" actually was. Sure there are things that annoy me, but they tend to be little specific things that vary by situation. What was that one annoyance that would get me every time?
Well I've thought about it for a while and I think I've come up with my ultimate pet peeve.
Begin senseless rant:
People touchin my radio!
I know, I know . . . it sounds kinda ridiculous. But, nothing will annoy me more than when I'm driving and my passenger just reaches over to do change the station, the volume, etc.
Or worse than that - when you pick someone up, they hop into the car and say, "Oh I brought some cds to listen to." Because you are at an obligation to listen to their cds, since they brought them. Then, once you put a cd on, you are locked into that artist until the end of the cd or car ride, whichever ends first. Not fair.
It annoys me even more when said person doesn't have a car. I am driving your ass around all the time AND you're going to dictate the music? Oh no.
I think it's mostly an issue of respect. It's my car, I'm driving, and I'm using my gas - I should be in control of my own radio. When you drive, you control your music. Simple as that. If you don't have a car, then it's not my problem. Get a job, save your cash, and buy yourself a used POS (Piece of Shit), then we can talk.
Granted, there are some general guidelines for picking music. I'm not going to put on death metal when I'm driving around someone who prefers Top 40. I'll try to find some music that suits my entire car. With the exception of Hairspray. Sometimes I will force everyone to listen to that...but only a song or two :)
Also, it is possible to reach a certain level in the friendship where you ARE allowed to break my rules. But that's rare and a product of years of friendship and driving.
