Teacher Thoughts and Arashi

I'm currently working as an ESL teacher, and here's a little something that came to me while I was on my way to work.

"What if Arashi members are my students?"

And here's what I thought the situation would be for each member:

For Sho:

*He'd probably be the easiest one to teach grammar. Maybe he already knows them and he'll just need a little polishing.

*He's already eloquent but I would still need to improve his pronunciation.

*He'd probably have no problems with reading and listening, but his writing might need minor corrections.

*I'd probably enjoy talking to him since we can have a deep talk about anything (which I would really love since I love deep conversations).

*I don't think I would be 100% comfortable with him, but he's a gentleman, so maybe we'll be okay in the long run.

For Aiba:

*I think he would get the grammar topics that I will discuss, but he's the type that would forget all about the lesson soon after. So I might need to do constant reviewing.

*He'd probably be most confident and comfortable in speaking. If I ask him a question, he would probably give me an hour long answer, and his answer would all over the place - meaning it'd cover so many (and sometimes unrelated) topics.

*He'd probably have a hard time with reading, writing, and listening. But he's the type that would not give up easily, so he'll study hard. (Though he might grumble at all the studying that he needs to do) I'd just have to constantly encourage him, something that I don't have any qualms doing.

*He'd probably be very shy at first but once we've built rapport, we'd probably have a good time talking about silly stuff.

For Ohno:

*He'd probably be the hardest one to teach grammar. Not because he's bad at it (because I think he's actually *quite* intelligent) but because he's not ineterested.

*It'd probably be hard for me to make him talk, but I have a way around that. I'd just have to talk about fish or fishing and he'd easily take the bait.

*Reading, writing, and listening might be hard for him at first, but after some practice, he'd probably improve fast. He'd probably complain if I'd give him too much homework.

*At first, he'd probably not speak at all unless he is spoken to. He'd have a permanent sleepy look and I won't be surprised at all if he falls asleep in class more than once. He's a "my pace" kind of person so he would probably hate it if he's pushed too much or if he's rushed. Our classes would probably have laid back atmosphere.

For Nino:

*He'd probably be okay when it comes to grammar. He'd probably commit more mistakes than Sho, and if I'd correct him, he'd probably say, "Yeah, I know." But if he gets the lesson right, he'd probably brag about it and say that he's amazing.

*He might be as talkative as Aiba but it'd be harder to keep his interest. Maybe if we'd talk about games he would be all ears. That means I'd have to be up to date with games.

* He'd probably have good pronunciation but it would still need polishing. His vocabulary might be good too. His reading, writing, and listeng would be around 80%. He'd probably do his homework but would give me smart-assed answers.

*We'd probably have a good time in class, mainly because he'd constantly be saying "I'm amazing, aren't I?", and it would make me crack up. He'd be mad at me at first because I won't allow him to play his games in class. But after some time, I'd probably give in and let him play. In general, my classes with him would be enjoyable.

For Jun:

*He'd probably show keen interest in learning grammar and vocabulary, and he'd probably have more questions than the rest of them put together. After I teach him a grammar topic once, he'd probably get it after a few examples. I'd expect him though to constantly ask questions to confirm his understanding. He's a perfectionist after all.

*He'd probably have average speaking skills but he'd probably talk a lot, which is good. His reading, writing, and listening would be above average, probably as good as Nino's. His pronunciation would also be above average and I think he's the easiest one to teach pronunciation. He'd probably take homework seriously, almost as seriously as Sho, and he would require or demand constant feedback.

*The way to make him talk would probably talk about concert plans. He'd probably very polite and would always call me sensei. But after some time, once he has felt comfortable enough in class, he'd probably drop the formalities and show a little of his diva side. At first our classes would be a bit stiff. I'd probably have to use some tricks to make him relax in my classes. But once it takes effect, our classed would be smooth sailing.

"What if Arashi members are my students in a group class?"

First of all I'd be stunned. I'd probably lose the ability to talk and I'd just stare at them for as long ad I could, mesmerized by their beauty.

Anyways, the seating arrangement of the three would be Sho, Nino, and Ohno on one side, and Jun and Aiba would be sitting opposite them. During the first few minutes of the first class, they'd all probably pay close attention to me, but once I give out the question that would ask each of them their opinion on something, they will slowly build their own world and talk among themselves and treat me like I'm part of the wall. (Though I think Sho and Jun would show me the courtesy of acknowledging my existence from time to time.)

Once I give out the question, Sho would probably automatically take the lead and he'd ask Ohno first then Jun. Since they'd be talking in English, the start of the conversation would be slow and everybody would be hesitant to talk, well, maybe except Aiba. He'd think his English is correct, but Nino would constantly correct him. They'd be teasing each other about speaking in English, especially Ohno. But once their switch is turned on. They'd be in their own world, talking about random and silly stuff.

Jun would most probaly tease Ohno and Aiba . Nino and Aiba would be beckering the whole time and episodes from the past would be shared. Everybody would bully each other, but mostbof the time it would be Ohno. If there's something they don't want to do, they'd make Ohno do it first. Or if not, they'd play janken.

Sho would try to keep the balance and let everybody talk. If it gets too serious Nino would say something to make the atmosphere relaxed again. Ohno would probably just listen to his members talk, and when he does talk, most of the time it's to complain about something. Everybody would still listen though. Jun would also be complaining a lot.

Sho would laugh at even not so funny things, but his laughter would be loud, uninhibited, and bright. Jun's smile would also be very bright and would really lighten up his space. Ohno would take time to get the jokes, and when he does and he thinks it's funny, he'd not stop laughing until he gets tears in his eyes. Aiba's laugh, with the kind of voice that he has, would be the most recognizable.

They'd all be in trapped in their own world. They'd know what each of them thinks about even without talking. Even if there's a lull in the conversation, it'd be a comfortable silence. Maybe that's the only time I'd be able to butt in to their conversation. That's just how strong their bond is.

Okay, so those are what I think Arashi members would be like if they become my students.
I'd probably be the luckiest teacher alive if they really become my students.
