So, I have just decided... that Frasier is literally the best sitcom. Ever. Uh, that's all really. Just felt the need to say that after spending the past half hour filled with laughter. Also, expect me to be exactly like Frasier when I'm about his age. Its basically already happening ( Read more... )

At the beginning of the show, they get about 7 or 8 aspiring clothing/fashion designers. Then throughout the show they give each one their own model to work with, and then give them different projects. To quote Tim G's podcast: "Let me put things in sequence. They have a $100 budget, and they have fifteen minutes to sketch. When we’re poised to go to Mood, I then tell them that they have to use all of the fabric. So in this context, they have to recalculate their thinking and recalibrate the design, so to speak, so that they can really be able to achieve this with $100 and just enough fabric. I was quite serious about it-I was certainly going to go around and check." Its usually not quite that harsh, but its towards the end of the season.

It can get pretty crazy, and its amazing what some of these people come up with. In the episode I mentioned, they had to use *exactly* all the material they purchased and no scraps could be left. One of them took the excess scraps and just *made* a purse out of it. Another took the extra fabric in making this long necklace accessory and it was brilliant, the judges thought it was clunky, though. So meh.

New episodes air on Wednesdays at 9central on Bravo if you ever want to watch.

And really, some of the stuff that comes out of this show is amazing. One of the designers, Uli, is great with transparent material. Look at these two amazing outfits:
