I smell a "shirt exchange" in our near future. And by shirt exchange I mean hanging out and doing crazy things like the crazy people that we are. GOOD LUCK AT DISTRICTS, TELL THOSE JUDGES WHO'S BOSS :)
For some, it's hard to find words to give true justice to the mind's many pathways - but for you, it seems only natural. Any college that turns you down is just downright crazy.

What's the prompt? Is it the Common App. essay of your choice? (That's what I wrote.)
a few grammar thingies:
-when I read (pretending I don't know you) "My sister Sarah and I would talk for hours," I feel like that's in the past and I wonder a) if these conversations stopped and b) what stopped them and c) is this essay going to be about your sister

Thank you! All that was really helpful. I'm going to work on it on Monday. The hardest thing is keeping it under 500 words. Right now it's at 499. Gah! But I'm going to work on it. There are plenty of ways I can get rid of words. They're overrated anyway. ;)

Hehe. I'm glad it was helpful. Yeah, I know the feeling. Mines 515 or something (yikes). If you get stuck I can probably help you cut words; I wasn't looking for that. I pasted it into Word and it was 496 I think.
And yeah, words are overrated. EB White never wrote a word he didn't have to, and his brevity is what makes his work so powerful, and him so famous. William Zinnser (of "On Writing Well," which, if you haven't, you should read, because it's great) agrees.
