So. As most of you who live in my town or near it know, this week (excluding Monday) is half-days for the local school. Unfortunately, all the band classes are held after noon, so no band this week except for Monday. Problem is, Mrs. B. thought that Monday was a half-day too, or that the school had it off for Columbus day, so she DIDN'T SHOW UP. I had to teach the whole class by myself. I was hoarse by the end. Nobody listened to me, which was really disappointing. The principal came in and thanked me for doing it, which was nice, but we didn't get any real work done. I WOULD like to thank the two students who were wonderful examples. Skyler, Emily, please step up to the front. *applause* We love you guys. *hands over trophy* Now get off the stage.
Due to the horrific experience of trying to control 7th-8th graders with no teacher in the room, I have a new item for the list o' ways to torture people.
Item 1: Slow, painful, death by spider bites
Item 2: Beaten with blunt spiked club or shovel
Item 3: Itching. Lots and lots of itching.
Item 4: A hot day here where the air conditioning doesn't work.
Item 5: The aforesaid 7th-8th graders, minus Skyler and Emily, put in a very small, very echo-y room with very loud instruments.
Any one of these would be enough to slowly (or quickly) drive someone insane but if you combine them (i.e., band and itching) you will soon have a gibbering blob on your hands, which is all that will be left of the person you were trying to torture.
Today I went up to the school and took my PSAT's and another Driver's Ed test. Eleni voted for me! *grin* I think I did well on both tests. I know I missed a couple math questions on the PSAT's, one because I ran out of time, one because I forgot the formula to calculate an extended arc segment of a circle when you don't know the radius. *growls at self* Ben was there, of course, because he's a freakin' genius, so I gave him the website for Satori, because honestly, what better place for a 12 year old who's a senior in highschool and taking the PSAT's for the second time is there?
Erp asked me to be the model for some art project she has to do. She's making a big ol' dress, and the theme is 'roll'. Isn't that awesome?! I'm going to make the sleeves out of corks. The bodice is being made out of paper towel rolls, the skirt out of toilet paper rolls and there will be Tootsie Roll earrings. I told her she should add little wheels on the bottom of the skirt so that they skim the floor, and she said she'd try. That'd be totally awesome. And the time I'd have to model it is around 8:00 on Wednesday which HOLY CRAP!! I can do! Even though my Wednesdays are packed.
I'm going up to Allan Hancock Friday for my orientation for both my college courses.
Ho hum, this is getting slow. Are you bored? You are, you say? Hm. Well, this isn't about YOU. It's about ME. I don't care if you're bored. In fact, I think I shall show off and/or brag some more.
Today I got straight into the splits with no warmup at all. This is a sign. A good sign. I plan to be able to do a standing arabesque by Christmas Rawhide break. I don't plan to do it in the show, I just plan to be able to do it. Another good sign; I can do a Bow+Arrow STANDING UP. Not sitting on the side of a horse, STANDING. It's very impressive. I discovered this in ballet. Of course, Bianca then has to show how good SHE is, which, duh, I know she's flexible, little miss oh-is-my-foot-touching-my-forehead-I-didn't-notice. And her perky, upbeat, chipmunky voice bugs the heck out of me. I swear, any higher and she'd be audible only to bats. And dolphins. Or she'd have dogs all over her, you know, like when you blow one of those silent whistles.
Here's a poem I began a long time ago. It's not done, and I've been contemplating it recently. I have a few drafts for the fourth verse, which is the turning point, but I shan't reveal them until it's finished. Don't have a title yet...
Once upon a time, I dreamt a dream.
A dream of things that were to be,
Of wonderment and fantasy,
Of crystal castles tall and wide,
Of opposites laid side by side,
I dreamt a dream of light.
Of this I dreamed.
Once upon a time, I wished a wish.
A wish for futures bright and warm,
A healing wish for all those torn,
A wish for laughter and for joy,
A wish to build up all destroyed,
I wished a wish for love.
For this I wished.
Once upon a time, I sang a song.
A song to help all those in pain,
Of lost things soon to be regained,
For happy futures drawing near,
I sang of joy to dispel fear,
I sang a song of hope.
Of this I sang.
Looking at it now, it looks kinda pathetic. I think it'd be better as a song. *muses*
Well. Are you bored yet? Wait, I don't care! Guess who this journal isn't about? YOU!! It's not about anyone except me!! It's the ultimate in egotism. *strokes own ego like cat* *ego purrs*
I recently got into a whole slew of online comics. They're rather widely varied. I'm reading ones about an oracle, a girl who can turn into a cat and her boyfriend who likes to play with people's genders, indie rockers and goth people, Dungeons & Dragons, and a girl and the sheep she counts to go to sleep, plus others. They're all hilarious.
I opened an account with SBB&T the other day to put all my babysitting money in. Well, not opened, as I already had an account there. It had, I think about $1.36 in it. But I deposited a bunch of cash and a couple checks, about $120. I didn't want to carry around so much money. I have more than thirty dollars in my wallet now, which is quite enough. I just think it's a good idea to have an account in the bank in town, even though I already have my USAA account and my credit card, because it's useful for when you want money. I like the idea of having an account that's nothing but money I earn. Also, if I leave my USAA account alone, it will continue collecting my $10 allowance a week, and sit there and grow... bwahaha... AND I SHALL RULE THE WORLD!!!! Or not. Right. I didn't say that. You didn't hear anything.
Well, that's it for now. Sadly, I must sleep. I could write more.... *all yell* SHUT UP!!!
Fine, if that's the way you want it.
*stalks off in huff*
