Come one! Come all! Heed my words! This is for all who don't want to annoy me...
When you are writing, speaking, typing, or doing anything with words, PLEASE REFRAIN from using the word 'nauseous' incorrectly. When you say, "so-and-so was nauseous" you are not telling us that so-and-so was feeling ill, you are telling us that so-and-so was causing others to feel ill. See, 'nauseous' does not mean 'experiencing nausea,' it means 'causing others to experience nausea.' So if you wish to communicate the statement that so-and-so was feeling under the weather, you say, "so-and-so felt nauseated." One more time: Nauseous -- inspiring nausea; Nauseated -- feeling nausea. Thank you.
I've just seen it wrong too many times to stay silent anymore.
