So I just finished watching The Village.
Overall I did enjoy the movie. I do, however, have a problem with the verdict of The Elders at the end of the movie. They had decided to start their own society and leave everything else behind, murder and violence being the most important aspect. The problem is that murder had still come about in their village but at the end of the movie they still want to stay. The only arguement that I can come up with is that they were still holding onto 'hope' just as Ivy had. Of course I have other questions about what happens later in the life of The Village, questions which of course could not be answered but only guessed. What if Lucius doesn't survive? What happens when the new elders come about? Would the truth about the world be revealed to them?
The movie is a great display of a societal experiment, but would it even be possible to suppress the thoughts of exploration within. That wonderful, wonderful wanderlust.
And just if you are curious to know, yes, I do get to sit around and watch movies while I'm at work.
