Room 34

Apr 27, 2005 05:21

Edmund opens the door to his room, holding it open for Kitty, before closing it just as methodically, carrying his sketchbook over to the table and moving several papers out of the way, searching for his favorite pencil again.

He's not looking at her when he speaks.

"Take off your clothes, then?"

She blinks. "Excuse me?"

He doesn't look up, but he does speak up, a bit.

"Take off your clothes?"

"..." She shrugs and does so, folding them neatly after they're removed and setting them at the foot of the bed before turning to look at him.

He is, perhaps noticeably, still directing his gaze to his sketchbook.

"Go ahead and get comfortable, then, and feel free to pull the sheet off the bed if you'd like."

He turns his chair around, facing it towards the bed, but doesn't sit, yet.

She might be a bit amused now as she sits on the bed, legs crossed and chin on her hand.

And does not, perhaps, pull the sheet up.

She can't help feeling it would be a bit silly to do so, now.

"Alright."

He turns around towards her, promptly turns back around to the table, does not throw his hands in the air, and picks up his sketchbook again, sitting in the chair.

And when he opens his eyes again, and looks at her calmly, he's... actually not blushing at all, which perhaps is a bit odd.

"Lie down?"

She sighs and then does so.

At least the bed is comfortable.

(And if her skin might colour for a moment with thoughts of the last time she was lying in the bed, it is only for a moment, and probably not all that noticeable.)

He smiles a little, as his pencil is already flying across the paper.

"You're beautiful, Kitty. And you're just as beautiful with your scars as you would be without them."

She rolls her eyes. "I am not." Which is not to say that she doesn't think she's attractive, or pretty, but not. That.

He raises an eyebrow, keeping a more-or-less steady gaze on her, glancing down at the sketch frequently enough as it starts to take form.

"I'll just hope you'll forgive me when I rather stubbornly disagree with you."

Oh, and isn't that a dry tone.

She might point out that it's very rare, whatever the circumstances might be, for a man to inform a naked woman in his bed that she's anything other than beautiful.

But she doesn't, just sighs, and does her best not to fidget.

"Relax, Kitty, it's not like it's a slow-exposure photograph. Really."

A slight smile.

He might point out that he's told her she's beautiful before, perhaps, and she's still not believed him.

To which she'd have no good reply, and thus, it's good for her that she never mentioned that.

"I'm relaxed, thank you." Mock glares before stretching her legs out for a moment, toes pointing, before she really does relax.

A rather wider smile at that, as he continues to sketch, in the half-light of the room.

The picture is taking form rather quickly, really, as the point of it is to get the truth of the image on paper, instead of the details.

There's not much for her to do, and so Kitty contents herself with looking at him.

And finds that she really rather likes how he looks at the moment as he works.

And after a few more minutes, there's a moment where he's just sitting there looking at her, before dropping his gaze to the sketch once more, smudging one line a bit to correct it, and setting his pencil behind his ear as he stands and walks over towards the bed, covering her politely with the sheet before sitting next to her and turning the sketch for her to see.
