Firebird
A fairly sweet, fizzy concoction that's shorter than most other sparkling cocktails.
1.5 measures silver tequila
.5 measure crème de banane
.5 measure lime juice
2 measures sparkling lemonade
Fill a rocks glass nearly to the brim with cracked ice. Add the first three ingredients, give them a quick stir and then add the lemonade. Garnish with a slice of lemon.

Mockingbird
A good balance of sweet and sour is achieved in this minty, but sharp-edged cocktail. It's one of those tastes of which one can say that a little goes a long way.
1.5 measures silver tequila
.75 measure white crème de menthe
juice of half a lime
Shake all the ingredients well with ice, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a half-slice of lime and a sprig of mint.

Yellow Parrot
This is a powerful 1920s cocktail. It is essential to serve it over crushed ice, to mitigate a little of its firepower.
1 measure absinthe
1 measure yellow Chartreuse
1 measure apricot brandy
Shake all the ingredients well with ice, and strain into a cocktail glass filled almost to the brim with ice. Do not garnish.

Blackhawk
A lustrous purple is more the colour here than black, and the combination of fruit flavors is quite enchanting. This is a very moreish short drink with an appealing balance of sweet and sour.
1.5 measures vodka
.5 measure crème de mûre
.5 measure lime juice
Shake all the ingredients well with ice, and strain into a cocktail glass. Add a whole, perfectly ripe blackberry and a half-slice of lime.

All drinks from The Ultimate Book of Cocktails, Stuart Walton.
