"What are those?" The blond's brow quirked up slightly looking towards her beloved pet.
"What do they look like Ruby?"
"Pieces of paper that have no meaning to me what so ever."
Cole sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose and leaning back into his seat. "Ruby, baby, they are plane tickets. I wanted to take you somewhere."
"First off, don't ever call me baby," She sneered at him. He knew she hated such terms of endearment. They were meaningless. "Second off, we're not going anywhere Cole. We have things to do."
"Ruby, there is nothing to do. You need to understand that. There is nothing here right now. It's four god damn days of just you and me without everything else around us."
"I said no Cole," She rolled her eyes and laid back on the bed, closing her eyes.
She hadn't expected him to come onto the bed with her and grab her wrists, look down at her and seem so cold. "I do everything for you. Whatever you ask. What the hell are you so afraid of Ruby? Huh? Scared of feeling human again? Is that it? You said you forgot what it feels like, like hell you have. All you ever do is try to play the tough bitch and you know what? You're not. It's an act. A front. When we have sex? If you weren't human you wouldn't hold onto me when we're done and stay that way for hours."
Ruby glared up at him. Sure, he was right, but she wasn't going to admit that openly. "Fuck you Cole. I do it because it's what you want. It's what you want me to be. Remember, baby I can play any part you want. That's exactly what I'm doing. I'm keeping you around so that you have something to work for, have someone you feel needs you and I do need you, just not for what you think. You're a good lay, just a good fuck. That's all you are Cole. You do things without being told twice. You're useful."
She saw the hurt in Cole's eyes and he got up and stormed out. Typical Cole. Typical Ruby. They always pissed each other off. Five hours later when he came back, Ruby was sitting on the edge of the bed. Bags were packed and she was holding the tickets in her hand. "Bout time you got back, we're going to be late if we don't hurry up."
He gave her the oddest look and she rolled her eyes and threw him one of the bags "Get your ass moving Cole."
Hey, Cole thought he made a improvement on their relationship. That was something, he was going to have some time with her, just her. That made him happier then he had been in a while.
