WRO HQ, Edge, 6:45PM

Oct 29, 2007 13:14

Who: Reeve Tuesti
Status: Closed
When: 6:45PM
Where: President's Office, WRO HQ
What: Press releases, escape, and an incoming storm. Reeve gets things ready to try and slip the bonds of work, if only for a little while.

Slipping off the long blue coat that'd become his trademark felt, as usual, like slipping out of his role as WRO Commissioner. There was something about it- the semi-military trim, the broad shoulders and belted length- that made him more... imposing wasn't the word, but it carried with it an official air. It also sometimes made him look almost bent, as if slowly crumbling under the weight of the world. Reeve went to grab a coat hanger, then tossed the coat over the side of the armchair.

Cait promptly kicked him in the shin for that little thought. "Don't you have a body double to be preparing?" Reeve grumbled, dress shirt and tie following the path of his coat. An old, battered sweatshirt slid over his head, over mussed hair and ribs too prominent to be healthy. "Or a litter box to clean?"

"Done an' done. Jus' waitin' on ya t' finish up. Yer gettin' slow in yer old a-mmmph!" The automaton's response was muffled by the pair of dress slacks tossed over his furry little head; the battered old jeans he held were yanked away. "So when're ya meetin' up wi' Tall, Dark, an' Broody, anyway?"

Reeve pulled his cellphone out to glance at the lit-up display. "In fifteen minutes. Damn, I'm going to be late-" He slipped it back into his pocket, grabbing a nondescript jacket and scurrying up the stairwell that connected his workshop with his office. The room was dim, soft lighting over his desk; the sky was black with thunderclouds, the windows rattling with the booming sound. "Go get suited up, Cait. You're going to have to make a detour."

Cait shook his head in annoyance, but turned and trotted back down towards the workshop. Reeve sat down with a sigh. The lone paper still laying on the blotter of his desk stared up at him, awaiting his signature and seal.

As flu season is almost upon us, and the weather is beginning to cool down, it is more important now than ever to keep the populace of the city healthy. To that end, the WRO would like to announce that, in cooperation with Edge Mercy, we will be offering free influenza vaccinations to all citizens starting in three days. The shots are recommended for all children over three, and to those over 50, but will be available to everyone. Please call either the WRO Hospital or Edge Mercy to set up an appointment. It only takes three minutes to safeguard yourself against a possible killer.

The WRO would also like to announce that we will be offering free medical care to the children of low-income families in the Edge and Junon areas. This medical care will cover children under the age of 13, and will provide for doctor's visits, emergency care, and cost of medication. This free clinic will be run twice a week, from 8AM to 8PM, and open 24/7 for emergency cases.

After a pause, Reeve picked up an antique ink pen, barrel made of polished mahogany and gold, and signed his name to it. A moment later, and the WRO coat of arms was stamped in red wax over the folded edges. "... surely to Gaia they'll be willing to cooperate with us this far," he murmured.

"Reeve? Ya ready'r what? Don' jus' sit there!" Gaia, it was always disconcerting to see Cait riding inside his body double; like watching himself in a warped funhouse mirror. A human hand tossed a set of car keys at Reeve. "Gotcher junker in th' garage. I'll leave 'bout five minutes b'fore ya, try t' lead 'em off."

"Mn. Thank you." Reeve handed the press release over to Cait, as well as a small pouch of gil. "Bribe them if you have to, but get those releases in the newspaper. I'll be home later tonight."

The feline took the goods, hanging halfway out of Reeve's beheaded body, and held them for a moment. "Y' really think it's safe t' do this?"

Reeve paused, jingling the keys in his hand. Thunder rumbled again, making the lights flicker for a moment. "No," he finally said. "I don't." he began to stroll into the elevator, waiting impatiently for Cait to hurry up. "But I'm not going to let a little thing like that stop me from living."
