"For the most part, I've enjoyed our time together, but it has come to an end."
The woman who spoke those words held out her hand to the man before her; he didn't take it.
Churlish, Severus thought.
"Well, then," said the woman, "goodnight and goodbye, Rupert."
She turned to go. Severus tensed, as did Rupert, who reached for the woman's shoulder. Upon contact with it, he screamed.
"What are you-what's happ-make it, make it stop!"
"No," the woman, her hood falling back to reveal a familiar face, said. "No, I don't think I will. You had no right to touch me in anger, and the spell-"
"Hex!" shrieked Rupert, holding his hand, tears streaming down his face. "Hex!"
"Potato, potahto," remarked Hermione Granger. "When the spell wears off, and it will, don't contact me again."
"Bitch! I'm going to-"
"Learn spells that I consider to be hexes if you do contact me again. Goodbye, Rupert."
"And good riddance!"
Severus turned towards his mother. "Mam."
"Son?"
"Put your wand away," insisted Severus.
Eileen grinned, slid her wand up her sleeve, and returned her attention to her biscuits and coffee. Severus snorted.
"Capable girl," murmured Eileen.
"Yes," replied Severus, feeling something ever so slightly akin to pride.
