Could it be?

Alright, so I noticed the last time I posted was in July. That's.....extremely sad. In my defense, though, I do read your journals regularly and update my Facebook profile with photos and stuff! But still, July??? Bad Maura.

It would be difficult to write about the last six months in one post, but things have been pretty good...

Work has been really exhausting & challenging - I've worked on tons of stories, and the newspaper industry is kind of going through a weird transition right now, so things have been interesting here at the Republic.

Anyway, I shall play the bullet game!

- In September Jeremy & I drove to Disneyland to celebrate our four-year (!) anniversary. It was so much fun.

- Visited the wonderful Mel in November and had a GREAT time. I will be visiting again in the spring! :) Also went home for Thanksgiving in November... Jane, Owen and Daisy are doing really well and are as cute as ever.

- Several other random things have happened, too. I can't remember everything.

- Next month we're going to the Grand Canyon, and we haven't been yet so that will be awesome. We're also planning a short trip to Las Vegas. Not exactly our type of place, but its only a 5 hour drive and we want to check out the fun hotels and catch a show.

- And then there's graduate school! Despite studying for the GRE for more than 4 months, my score was awful. I've never done well on those tests but I took it a second time, a little less nervous, and managed to score LOWER. We're talking just breaking the 1,000 mark. Seriously, I never wanted to see a computer screen again. I was so upset. I really hope it doesn't put me in the shredder.

Yes, so grad school. I'm applying to two programs in Washington, D.C. I do enjoy my job but I'm not sure if I want to do print journalism forever. I applied to George Washington University's media and public affairs program & to American University for Public Communication. Neither are grad. journalism degrees, as I don't need another j-degree.

To make a long story short, students in those programs get jobs at advertising firms, public policy organizations, communications department at a gazillion cool places (including the White House!). Alumni from American U now work at the Smithsonian, top PR firms, National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Dreamworks, Warner Brothers, 60 Minutes, the WB, Nickelodeon, etc etc. And the programs being in D.C., the internships are incredible.

Anyway, there you have it! Both are competitive programs given the D.C. location but we shall see :)

I miss all of you guys so much and promise to post more!
