Yeah so I think its day 135 or something without rain here. Big news today when there was a 40% chance of precipitation! No such luck - just a few sprinkles. Although it really is a serious issue because the Phoenix area will be screwed in the summer if it doesn't rain soon. Droughts = bad. But I have faith in the rain! You can do it nimbus clouds!
I took Jeremy to the airport earlier because he's visiting home for a few days. I'm sure his brother and friends will be be shocked when they see how amazing he looks! (His parents were!) He hasn't been home since July! I miss him already, though. It's just so strange not having him here because, well, I enjoy being with him immensely, of course :) I suppose this faux distance til Monday will make the heart grow fonder <3 hehe.
Work lately has been pretty intense. Just so much to do at once and always multitasking to the point of craziness. I think the most difficult part about being a journalist with a variety of beats is that you're always learning so much about things but in a short amount of time...
I did a story today about Section 8 & public housing and had to browse through this 300 page policy document and attend a complex meeting last night. But then you have to make it understandable for readers and turn it into a 12 inch story! yes yes, always the toughest part (12 inches isn't long and it's much harder to write shorter). Which is definitely good, even if it's stressful.
In the far future I'd like to expand my media/journalism horizons with other options but I'm learning so much and challenging myself.
It just so happens my mom is flying in to visit this weekend, which will be great! Phoenix has the nation's best Native American museum and its having this major festival thing so she's gonna go to that and we'll do a bit o'shopping! I think we're gonna buy Jeremy a cookbook because he's such an amazing cook!!! (My dad commented that my mom should prepare salmon the way Jeremy does... oooh.)
Well, it's off to bed for me! <3
P.S. We saw Curious George this weekend and it was spectacular! Very very cute, of course. ;-)
