Personal responsibility is just that - personal. You create your own future based upon the decisions you make, as well as the decisions you decline to make. Of course, to a lesser degree, your future is also determined by decisions made by others on your behalf. Rather than bemoan the options that you don't have, work with relish upon the options that are available to you.
What does that all mean?
Hopefully, it means that from this point forward (if you haven't been doing this already), take full charge of your future, and shape it to your liking to the best of your ability.
Don't like your job? Look for another one. No jobs available in your area? Relocate to where the jobs are. No skill set in which to offer a potential employee? Go acquire some (do related work for reduced compensation or on a voluntary basis in your spare time if needed).
My point here is that you don't sit off in a corner and call a waaa-bulance, but actually be proactive and do something about your specific situation. Don't wait for the handout or for someone to read your mind. Show some humility and roll up your sleeves, as it were. The sooner you get to work on your dreams, the sooner they will come to fruition.
That's right. Don't stop dreaming. The day that you do is arguably the same day that the professionals without the bright wide smiles start throwing dirt on top of you.
