we were practicing our tango at the country club ballroom the week before our wedding, and a short dark-haired woman came out of the kitchen and asked if she could help us. well, she sure did.
we said no, we were practicing for our wedding dance. she said her daughter was being married there soon. we got to talking [some spanish, some english], and covered the usual stuff when people meet and are liking the getting to know each other chit-chat in different languages -- where we learned them, when, how. this leads us to things like where we've been and what we've done. it went on from there
she's from el salvador
mother left when she was VERY young
father raised the 4 kids, but died when she was 10
she raised her siblings from then on
came to the u.s.
worked many jobs at once and paid to bring the others
they are all married and employed
she has married and has two kids
her oldest just graduated from the u of m, college park,
b.a. in business managment
her youngest is 11
she still works 2 jobs
her bosses a couple years ago, jewish people, paid her enough to get a lawyer and sponsored her for citizenship [thank you, jewish bosses. something about screwing the evil stereotypes]
she passed her test on the first try, after studying english and american history VERY hard, and being VERY nervous
ok, so how the HELL did she do all that? how do you support your family from age 10? how do you migrate as a teen, still supporting yourself and your family, and start over in a new country where you don't even speak the language?
the u.s. government overthrew their elected govt in the 50s to give the land to american banana growers [chiquita], and so couldn't admit the country was in the sewer, we had put it there. we turned back people trying to come here for many years
my challenge to the god damn jesus mother titty fucking conservatives who are against anything or anyone foreign [or who doesn't agree with them], and all who were ever illegal should be shot and/or deported on sight?
how dare we? how dare we ruin her country and then tell her she can't come? well she came anyway [thank god!]! how is she anything less than what we hope somebody could be? how could she have been or done any better? what more could you ask of a person?
what's not american about taking care of your family?
about hard work?
about not giving up?
more to the point, what will become of america if such people stop coming? stop folks like that, and we're screwed
let em get legal, pay taxes [as legals must and she did], and save us, cause we NEEEEEEEED these people
end rant
ps -- lots of illegals pay their taxes, even though they're working with fake social security numbers. they're more likely to get caught for not paying their taxes than for the fake #.
pps -- if we're sending people away, i'd like to nominate lots of so-called americans that don't try or work for anything, that want everything for nothing. no work, no sweat, just bad ass tude and it's my fault if they don't do their work..."money for nothin and their chicks for free"
ship em
