An email from dad...

You didn't hear it, but I wished you happy birthday and gloated about you
this morning on the air, for all of Southeast Texas to hear.

Son, I am proud of who you have turned out to be, and I have always felt
honored to be your father.

I was looking at picture albums of photos over the years, and what
incredible memories they brought on. Lindale, El Paso, the move from
Birmingham to Carrollton, your first day of school, moving into your first
apartment, feeding goats at Carl Sandburg's farm, on the boat at Niagara
Falls, in the stroller in Thornton, on a California beach..... I'm so glad
we got to move around the country with you when you were young. I believe it
was a good experience for you... at times I have wondered whether it would
have been better to stay in one place, but I think it worked out just right,
that you got to "settle in" in your "later" years in Houston. I don't know
how you feel, but that's my reflection for the moment.

Paul, I pray you will continue to grow stronger and stronger in your love
for and service to God. It's a lifelong growth process, but it's obviously
worth it! What a great man of God you can be! (That was our prayer for you
from the start).

Pardon me for waxing poetic, but they are my heart's thoughts right now.

Have a great birthday!

I love you.

Dad
