I am now letting out a huge exalted sigh of relief. I just finsished my essay for my Fairy Tales class. I'm glad I went ahead and spent a couple of extra days on it because I am *almost* as happy with this paper as I am with my Marquis essay. That particular essay I titled: "The Marquis de Sade's Sexual Violence Invades "The Bloody Chamber" in ( Read more... )

you forgot me! I'd like to read the feminism one. my kinky Cinderella fairy tale is based on some feminist principles. (and a standing-in-the-bookstore-reading of Wicked)

I mentioned how she goes to the ball four times, (the time I was writing about was the fourth time, basically a metaphor for how dating works in our society),

it took awhile for people in my critique group to grasp that the fourth time reference was meant to poke fun at the "fourth wave" of feminism of which Cinderella in my story acted like. Came from a talk with K about how he felt that your most-hated Buffy is from the fourth wave because she's an airhead by some standards. (even if I think she's basically smart, fighting that impulse all the time, but we can debate when she died or rose from the dead how many times?)

so yeah, Cinderella has some third-wave in her, though I think I asked someone in Janeplan9 and I's writing class to elaborate on the whole thing. she's doubling in creative writing and women's studies (the chic in our writing class, Katrina?)

then..., well, anymore info you'll just have to ask me to send it to you. my mother claims to not have been able to read my story. hell my roommate's whole Kerry/Edwards shtick had me and Janeplan 9 almost on the floor laughing (had it not for that we were in class, it described gay sex in graphic detail... I'm not going on. )

I keep pressing her for sequels featuring Condi and Bush or Bush and Cheney or even a threesome with Saddam but hey. (got to laugh at something) but I've written a sequel to Cinderella as well which was 20 pages for CW 302, so if you want to read that you have to read Cinderella first. So I guess I need to read more Angel Carter before I expand my world that I'd love to produce with Sam Raimi someday (creator of Xena... so yes, the inherent Xenite campiness totally influences it)
