magical uh...avatar verse...thing? I don't even know, it's suki and sokka shut up.

"Alright girls, that's enough. Now do a run around the island and I'll see you all in the morning. Go!" Suki clapped her hands together, and the newest generation of Kyoshi warriors went jogging off down the beach towards the distant rocks and trees, in sets of two and three, racing and laughing and generally not taking her instructions seriously. But Suki didn't really mind, a faint smile on her face as she watched them disappear, before she turned and started in the opposite direction, back towards the village.

She didn't usually drag the girls out onto the beach for training, but she'd just felt a need to do so today, to get away from the buildings and the statues and everyone in the village, just being all...happy. Not that she wasn't! Because she was! Of course! But she could only spend so much time hanging out with the other warriors of her generation and their boyfriends (well, and one girlfriend) before it started to wear at her a bit. So, she was taking the day off.

Not that she could actually avoid going back, since three hours of training always left her feeling starving. So she just took her time, walking along the water at the edge of the bay towards the crook in the rocks that led to Kyoshi itself, feeling the sand kicking up int her sandals and shuffling beneath her feet. She paused to look at her reflection in the water, her face covered in her usual make-up, her hair tugged back into a bun. Suddenly she couldn't remember when she'd stopped looking like a little girl, and it actually bothered her, just for a second. She tugged a cloth from out of her pocket and wiped off the make-up in several smooth, practiced motions, then reached up and undid her hair, letting it hang loose, still kept just slightly longer than her chin.

She almost never had her make-up off outside of the village, so it was kind of nice to look at her reflection in the water and see herself for a change. She smiled, leaning down to wash the face paint off the cloth, and then wrung it out and slipped it back into her pocket as she turned towards the village.

Huh. Right there, a few feet away, was where she had met Sokka...was it really three years ago already? Granted, 'met' was really 'knocked down, tied up, and dragged back to the village' but...it still counted, right? And then he'd managed to prove he wasn't the ass he seemed to be, and she had fallen for him much, much harder than she had realized...

And then he'd left. And the war happened...and for a little while in Ba Sing Se they were happy. And then everyone had to go home. He had responsibilities, she had responsibilities. So far apart.

Now it was just letters.

Twice a month she sent them off, twice a month she got them back (well, usually) from him, rambling things sharing all their happy thoughts and her sad thoughts (and she somehow doubted he was sending all his sad thoughts), and for a few minutes it was like he was here. and then she was done. And he wasn't.

Okay, now she was moping again. This was a waste of time. "Back to the village, there are things to do." She muttered to herself, frowning at where she was fairly certain Sokka had been tied up (or maybe it was Katara?) before she turned and stalked up the beach towards home.

sokka, suki
