Happy birthday to me :D

So I decided that with the money I'd saved up from tutoring so far that I'd buy a swift and ball winder. Photos of the swift are below the cut. It's wonderful. Last week balling up a skein of this stuff took about an hour and a half each time, skeining up this baby took all of about 10 minutes. Wonderful!

The photos are taken with the camera that Grandma got me for my birthday. It's exactly the sort of thing I would've bought for myself, albeit bought in 2008 instead of this year, so there are a few obvious age-technology differences. It's still a very good camera though, and I've already started taking photos of projects I've been working on and finished, and have uploaded them to Ravelry. Maybe I should get a Flickr so that it's easier to keep all my photos in one place and I can crosspost them wherever at that stage.

In other news, my other Grandmother (the one with dementia) went walking about in the middle of the night on Saturday night, fell over and broke her ankle in three places. She's in hospital and getting surgery on it today sometime. I hope that by this evening we'll know how it's gone. Granddad says that hopefully this'll mean that some doctors and other people will make a decision regarding Nanna's future living arrangements that he's found too difficult to make, this coming via Dad of course. I really wish this decision had been made two years ago, but this is how it is, and we can't change it now.
