Why do I have to beg

Everything was pitch black. Silent. Nothingness. His first thought was, am I dead? Still, as he floated, nothing was explained, and that frustrated him. He didn't expect answers, but clues would be nice.

As he thought about that, a tiny light appeared, then it expanded, banishing the dark. He tried to shield his eyes, but soon he was standing in a white space in front of a massive, detailed gate. There, a being clothed in light stood with one arm and one leg. Everything else seemed to glow brilliantly, even its eyes, or wherever he assumed the eyes should be. It had no features, but he could tell the thing was grinning viciously. Its flesh arm reached out for him, but the gate opened into an infinitely darker blackness than the one he had been in before.

Tendrils reached out from the gate, and he accepted them as they wrapped around his body. He relaxed, allowed these things to drip their black temptation over him. His body surged forward, the doors slamming shut behind him. Instead of seeing what he subconsciously desired to se, he saw flashes, quick spurts of other people, scenes, some he could see for longer and others seemed to flash before he could even register it had appeared.

There was a large suit of armor; a kind smile without a face. There was a blue uniform. A scene of black, agonizing pain. Next was the sound of a clap with an explosion of light-driven energy arcing across the black. There was an explosion of fire and there was a seemingly endless rain. He could almost feel it pelt his skin as he stared off into the black. The last scene, flash, he saw was that of a small face, but it was fleeting and he could no more recognize it anymore than he could place whose it was. Already as the last faded, he was forgetting the scenes. The blonde-haired boy's face was flowing through his hands like sand, each second he lost more and more details of it until all that was left in his memory was the anger with himself for ever having forgotten.
