Hey,
Christina here. Naturally, I'm struggling with brainstorming for my creative writing assignment, so I popped in Bridget Jones to keep me entertained. *Laughs hysterically every few minutes*
I really, really want to write a romantic comedy. I'm naturally funny and I'm a hopeless romantic! Two things you would think I could put on paper, but it's much more difficult to produce the right moments.
Has anyone ever read Bridget Jones's Diary? I imagine that it's just as funny as the movie. She really can fuck up a conversation more than anyone I know. But, that aside, I chose this movie because we were discussing character development in creative writing on Wednesday. I've noticed that I really taking a liking to Bridget for her serious lack of social aptitude and, of course, her ability to sport granny panties and allure Hugh Grant into them! :D And of course, I love how we (readers) grow to enjoy Daniel Cleaver, then the author makes us hate him because he lied to unsuspecting Bridget..just when we were getting to dislike Mark Darcy for his brash and crude personality, not to mention his lack of a sense of humor.
{ p a u s e } hehehehe, Hugh Grant just discovered the "enormous panties" .. lol!
So for my story, I had originally thought of writing it in diary entry format, just because form isn't necessarily as important as quality in this class. Yet, this is the new age, how many of us write in diaries anymore when we can vent here in journals much like this one? Other than for very personal things, lots of us vent our real-life stories here online for others to read and mull over, sending us pity, luck, best wishes, etc.
I really must develop some characters that I love before beginning this story..it's the way I started all of my Sims stories, so it must be a method that works in my favor...because as of now, I'm feeling a bit desperate and hopeless!
I think I know what I love most about this movie..I find Bridget's life so interesting..same with "Lost in Translation"..the lives of the characters seem so much more interesting than my own life..which is stressful and virtually lame compared to the characters I read and write about.
of course, that's the point of writing isn't it?
til next time,
Christina <3
