Dear Ben Kweller,
Thank you for being such a wonderfully nice and genuine person. My friend Jenna called me and asked me whether I was going to your concert tonight, but I knew I could not make it, because I had no money for lots of things anymore with all my grown-up bills to pay. She told me that you were going to play at Zia's but we didn't know which Zia's you were referring to! But she sent you a message and you thankfully replied saying it was the one on Speedway. As we expected! This Zia's was closest to Club Congress.
I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to see you play, Ben! Not even one song...but I made it just in time to hear you play. You played one song and then you proceeded to greet the seven or eight people there who were lucky enough to hear you play your little three song acoustic set. Afterwards, I shook your hand and told you that I was at the last concert when you played with Whitley and Vanessa Carlton. But, stupid me! Vanessa Carlton didn't play with you, she played with Joshua Radin and you knew that I was wrong. I felt silly. But, you forgave me for my little slip and I told you how I couldn't go to the concert later that night...because I couldn't afford to go. And you asked me if it was ok if you could put me on the guest list (by typing my name in your iPhone) so I could go for free. REALLY?! Of course, yes!
Later that night, I had the privilege to stand right in front of the stage to see Jones St. Station and your awesomeness play with heart, energy, and soul. You even played a few songs not on the set list...including Sha Sha, Wasted and Ready, BK Baby and a Neil Young cover...Heart of Gold. Your little one, Dorian, is such an amazing drummer already! Playing Weezer's Say It Ain't So like a pro! Jenna and I agreed that he will be quite the heartbreaker one day...
Well, thanks again Ben for your kind gesture and for giving me the chance to see you live for the second time! Please have a safe and enjoyable rest of the tour. When you take that break and head home to Austin, I hope you will be able to relax and drink some lemonade from a Kitchenaid. :)
Sincerely,
Triza
